Question about Magellan MAESTRO 3100 98083401 GPS Device
I have a RoadMate 4250 that is less than a year old. The problem I am having is the inability to turn on the device once it has been disconnected from a dedicated power source. I have tried fully charging the device with the AC adapter as well as with the car charger. The device works and can be used when plugged in. If the device is unplugged from the car charger, for example, and you select "no" when the prompt asks whether you want to continue in battery mode, it cannot be turned on again using the power button. The device is in excellent condition, is always stored inside and has not been dropped. Any suggestions as to a remedy that does NOT include sending it back to Magellan would be greatly appreciated.
Send it back to the manufacturer under warranty for repair/replacement.

I think the problem is with the internal power jack which tends to break. the part is MG361213 and is available at laptopjacks.com. You have to take the Unit apart and remove the old jack and resolder the new one which is a three pin unit.

I just called Magellan.....1-800-707-9971. I got my 4250 for Christmas 2007 and never did register it. We did that over the phone and then he gave me a repair order and an address to send the unit to them. It will be fixed under warranty.....my only cost is the UPS or FED EX shipping. He said I will have it back in 7 to 10 days. OUTSTANDING service.
Mine was stuck on the blue screen.......and the pin reset did nothing.
SO......best of luck to you all......and I highly suggest calling Magellan.

turn off your unit with the slide switch on the top. Hold down the repeat button or the one beside the slide switch and then put the slide switch back to the on position. Then select hdd tools then format. exit out and turn the switch off and back on and it should work
