To get away from errors you need to use YM8.1
Messenger "9" 1st version was in Beta (testing) form. The newest version is not, But it's not working well either. Stick to 8.1 until they work out the Bugs. Including people using 8.1 trying to message ones with 9 or reverse they are having compatibility problems; like text not showing, pictures not showing. It shuts down on Vista users , not allowing people to log in.Web cams do not always work. Many things do not work or are missing that YM 8.1 has. It Seems for Vista users it is so buggy Yahoo is giving up on it and are no longer trying to fix it. http://www.ymessengerblog.com/blog/2008/...
Download 8.1 here;
Yahoo 8.1: http://www.soft32.com/download_30.html.....
Use this method: Start,My PC, C drive, open Program files.Next open Yahoo file then Messenger file.Click on UNWISE to Un install messenger 9 completely. Do not just delete yahoo file as this can cause problems with other Yahoo programs.
Your contacts list and messages are stored online and will be there when you return to 8.1 messenger.
Another big problem is with the latest update for Flash Player
Flash player 10 Does have conflicts, and 9's latest update 9.0.124.0 Can have conflicts with Yahoo(very rarely, if you are using it with no problems keep it) and is causing some Yahoo Messenger services to not load.Use the link below for a download of Flash player #9.0.115.0 It should work as it's the latest before 9.0.124.0 . You have to remove the present flash player,add/remove programs in control panel, then download the older version.

Messenger error 81003005

Hi,

here are some causes: Firstly; this error occurs when your connection preferences are not properly set. I'm not talking about your Yahoo! ID and Password here, but you may need to adjust certain features depending on what network you're on. Let's says for example, if a firewall protects your network, it may block yahoo messenger when it tries to connect to the server. You need to change your connection settings, click the Messenger menu in yahoo messenger and select Connection Preferences. Select Firewall With No Proxies. Select your Internet Connection type from the pull-down menu at the bottom and enter your Home Country if the adoptions aren?t grayed out. Click OK and login again using the new settings. If this option doesn?t work, click Connection Preferences in Yahoo! Messenger again and select No Network Detection. Try to login again using the new settings. In some instances, you may need to provide yahoo messenger with the IP address of your firewall or proxy server (you can get this information from your network administrator or from your Internet service provider). Click Messenger and select Connection Preferences again. Select Use Proxies. Enable either the HTTP Proxy or the SOCKS Proxy as needed and provide the proper address. Click OK and login again using the new settings.Secondly; if you are using IM9 there are sign in problems. This is what yahoo has to say. Try an updated version of Yahoo! Messenger 9.0(9.0.0.2128). This latest build includes a fix for the sign-in issues that have been affecting some users. If you were seeing an error code?81003005? when trying to sign in, this latest version may fix that problem. Even if you were experiencing a different kind of sign-in issue, I recommend installing this latest version. Hope it was helpful!

Thanks.

Error 81003005

[Solution #1]
Here's how I solve it:
1. Open your Internet Explorer
2. Go to Tools > Internet Options then click the Connections tab
3.Click the LAN Settings button and a new dialog box will open
4. At the new dialog box, look for the Proxy server checkbox, if this is checked, uncheck it.
5. Then your done, click OK button for the dialog boxes.
6. Try logging in to your Yahoo Messenger account.
My solution is good only if you have set your proxy server previously in your Internet Explorer. I've noticed this behaviour since in our school, I need to set the proxy server to access the internet. But at home, I don't need to. So when I am at home, this is the normal situation I encounter when I forget to unset back the proxy settings.
On the other hand, the other way around should work. What I mean here is, if you connect to a network that has a proxy server, you need to setup the proxy settings in order for you to use their internet services. Thus, access to yahoo could be established.
[Solution #2]
One area to look also if the proxy is not the one causing the problem, you can check if you have your DNS Server address(es) set, which - in case you have changed your network, can't be accessible to the new network. Thus, it can cause this error.
So, you may unset the DNS Servers (Go to Network Properties >> General Tab >> TCP/IP Properties >> General Tab >  Obtain DNS Server address automatically) and try logging in your YM.
[Solution #3]
If the above solutions does not go well, this last one might be the savior. Instead of constantly banging your heads with those re-logins and reconfigurations, you can track back your YM version and replace it with an old version instead. I did this and it works for me well. I had before a version 9 Yahoo Messenger and when I replace it with a version 8, the problem was solved. This should be your last resort if the previous won't work. Remember also to be patient. If it bugs you, don't bug down... bug up!

try two things.

Go to internet options in your explorer. Go to Connections tab and click open lan settings make sure your proxy server is unchecked. than click ok and try again.

If not

this will work.
Uninstall messenger(i know pain in but), and download the new version http://messenger.yahoo.com/

save it instead of just running the program, install it and try it that way.

That is usually and update or proxy error.
Good Luck let me know.

Download Yahoo Messenger 9

Make sure messenger is off, then go to regedit then open up HKEY CURRENT USER then open up SOFTWARE then open up MICROSOFT then open up WINDOWS then open up CURRENT VERSION then click on Internet Settings but dont open it just click on it then go half way down the list to find PROXY ENABLE,PROXY SERVER,PROXY OVERRIDE then click on PROXY ENABLE click modify binary and change from 0x00000000 (1) to 0x00000000 (0) then delete PROXY SERVER and PROXY OVERRIDE and there you go sign into messenger this has worked perfect for me hope it does for you.

or

It's either one of the two:

- Yahoo! servers are down for maintenance, the only fix would be to wait.

- Your connection preferences are wrong:
Messenger tab just above where you sign in and then click the Connection Preference option
