Just make sure you are inserting genuine Lexmark cartridges. Lexmark does not recommend the use of refilled, remanufactured or clone cartridges, you might not get the print quality you expect from ink that is specially formulated by Lexmark. Try cleaning the cartridge nozzles using the Lexmark software installed on your computer instead:1. On your computer, go to Start menu.2. Go to Programs.3. Go to Lexmark 2600 Series folder.4. Select Lexmark Solution Center.5. From the Maintenance tab, select Clean to fix horizontal streaks. Your printer will then print a page forcing ink through the cartridge nozzles and clean it from dirt and possible clogs. Should the problem continue, please contact Lexmark Technical Support Center to have your genuine cartridge replaced. They might ask for your receipt so have them ready. If you're not using genuine supplies, please replace your cartridges with original supplies.
Original Printer manufacturers do not recommend refilling in cartridges.
Different inks used in different cartridges differ in density, color, acidity etc. Usually refilling ink is made as universal ink. i.e. They produce the ink for 'any printer'.
The differences in the original and refiling inks might lead to the printer not recognizing the ink level.
Either buy a new cartridge or just ignore the messages.
I own a Cartridge World ink refilling store and I can't refill the Lexmark 36 and 37 cartridges. Your printer deactivates the electronics on this cartridge when the ink levels get low. Your printer needs a black and a color cartridge with functioning electronics to print. I NEVER recommend Lexmark printers. They are poorly made, don't accept refills easily, and have the most expensive ink across manufacturers and it is designed to clog your cartridge unless you use it quickly. If you keep this machine you are stuck buying Lexmark brand ink (the return program cartridges are a little cheaper though).
“Lexmark does not support the refilling of its ink cartridges. Refilling the ink cartridges can cause them to leak, thus clogging or even damaging the print head. Any damage to your printer caused by refilled ink cartridges may not be covered under warranty”. Please use genuine Lexmark cartridges for best results.
Is the cartridge a Lexmark cartridge or a refilled cartridge?
Remove the cartridge from the printer, take a damp paper towell and wipe the cartridge in one direction on the bottom. Is Ink coming out? If yes then put the cartridge back in the printer and try to print again. If the answer is no and the cartridge is brand new you need to return it to you point of sale and get a new one as its a bad cartridge.
If the cartridge is a refilled cartridge that is probably the problem. Lexmark printers do not support refilled cartridges.
I re-cleaned cups and wiper between cups with syringe and meth. spirits. Also realised that the cartridges that I had tried that hadn't printed could have melted the jets, so found an old one , filled it right up, then withdrew at least 2cc with refill kit tools. Prints fine now.
There was a lot of sticky ink residue on the wiper (what I assume the strip between the two rest cups is) that could have blocked jets.
in most of the cases the refill will work for a few times then will not work one reason is because the ink gets dry inside the cartridge and second the contacts does not work when you uses that several times and the third the ink is not compatible with the printer no matter if that say for that kind of printer so if you wants to get that right get the new cartridge and end of the problem
