This problem began about 6 months ago. Nothing unusual happened that I am aware of. When the system is first booted, it will stay on the acquiring satellite screen with no progress and ultimately fail. If I disconnect the antenna (LNB) cable and reconnect then it immediately shows progress and acquires the satellites and works fine until it is shut off and restarted again. Dish Tech support is useless, no they are LESS then useless. I have tried replacing the antenna dish and lnb, running new cable from antenna to receiver, replaced the splitter switch (for 1 and 2) all with no success, so I have concluded this issue must be with the 722 receiver itself. As I mentioned I have made 3 attempts to get help from dish with no success ("maybe there are clouds in the way every time you boot the receiver and they happen to disappear just when you disconnect and reconnect the cable" <<< No I am not kidding). I thought it might be a grounding issue so I ran a separate ground directly to the antenna dish with no success. SInce the 1000.2 antenna does not require a seperate switch, I have tried connecting the LNB cable to each of the 4 inputs on the LNB with the same result on each. We live in Florida so we shut the receiver off when we are not home to reduce the danger of lightning damage, consequently this problem becomes an irritant on a daily basis. Any ideas? My contract with dish ends in 1 month so if I cannot fix this, I am most likely going to switch to cable or directtv. Except for this problem the unit works properly as does the dvr.

Hi mfpayton with the install of the brand new receiver wealways want to make sure all connections are tight. And after all connectionsare hand tight we will need to run the Check Switch Test. It will provide thestrongest signal to your home and you will see the signal move up into the 65percent range. If after the Check Switch Test it still is a low signal we mayneed to check the connections from the Dish and LNB that is an issue we wouldneed to come out on. I will leave the link to show you how to do the CST.http://www.dishnetwork.com/SupportSection/complete-sig-loss

Hi benray there is something else youcan do on that to make sure your getting the strongest signal possible. Youwill need to press the MENU-6-1-1 buttons on the remote. Select Check Switchand Test, after the test is complete select done and then check the signal andif there is still a weak signal we will need to re-point the Dish.

Try the following:
Go to the back of the unit, where the antenna wire connects to the 1 - 2 switch. Carefully bend the wire (gently) back and forth and listen carefully as you bend it. If you hear a buzzing (like a mosquito) or the muffled sound of electrical arching, replace the antenna wire. If this is impractical, you can cut the end off and replace the end. Then reconnect the antenna wire to the 1 -2 switch and test it
YOU ARE A GENIUS!!!
You have solved a problem that at least 10 DIsh Network Tech Support "professionals" could not figure out!
THANK YOU!!!!
