Question about Microsoft Wireless Optical Desktop Comfort Edition

1 Answer

I put new batteries in the keyboard and now it won't type. I uninstalled and reinstalled and still not working. It shows the batteries are good...mouse is working. Before I go out and buy a new one...any suggestions?

My Microsoft remote wireless keyboard warms up after an hour or so and types fine. Before that, no key seems to want to work.

Pushed both buttons and tried reboot. Still no joy.

Most wireless devices have a pushbutton that you push to sync the Keyboard and receiver up again. You likely need to push one or both of the buttons. One is on the keyboard and the other is on the little USB thing (receiver) It may also require a reboot as well afterwards.

Try resetting the computer then hitting the connect button on the keyboard after the computer has started. Or unplug the keyboard and turn the comp on before plugging in the keyboard and hitting connect.

My keyboard seems to type letters, especially x

Hmm, sounds like a electrical fault but it could be a virus so scan your computer just in case.

Keyboard is messing up...the keys won't type or they type many times I've tried dust remover and new batteries

Sounds like its a problem with the receiver. Try reinstalling the usb receiver and make sure that its being recognized properly by windows. Also make sure your receiver is positioned good so its not to far from the mouse or keyboard.

If it is then type and if your having the same problems then they keyboard would be faulty at this point. Many times the main board inside of these keyboards go bad especially if water may have gotten spilled on them.

When i use the shift or the enter buttons the text either jumps to the top of the page or it disappears completely it appears to select all the data and then delete it

Try these:

1. Remove batteries from keyboard (if using wireless KB), and randomly type anything on the keyboard for about 10 seconds (this discharges the capacitors). Now replace the batteries and resynch the KB.

2. If that does not work, try uninstalling and then reinstalling the software.

Let me know how it goes..

Try restarting your computer, when it logs into windows it should work. If not try uninstalling the software and then reinstalling it.

Keyboard does not type brand new batteries

look for a little hole on the keyboard, the button is the size of a pin head, it is for resetting the keyboard after you put in a new battery. when you find the reset switch the keyboard light will work and the startup bar will show it has found a new device.

Keyboard not typing

Try just hitting Num Lock.

Hold Fn and hit Num Lock.

Hold Fn and hit the blue "lock icon" on the keyboard.

Either of these should solve your problem.

Let your computer boot as normal.Go to Device manager>under keyboards your wireless keyboard should show. If its not there reload it from the set up disc that came with your hardware i.e keyboard and mouse. If its listed enable it or uninstall and reinstall.
