1). Stop using this PC immediately. In your case, anything new on the same PC drive can be a great threat to your trashed photos. So, take care!
2). Apply a deleted photo recovery freeware to retrieve all your deleted photos back successfully:
http://blog4mark.blogspot.com/2012/12/photo-recovery-after-delete.html
I believe this data recovery freeware can work perfectly on your PC drive just in the same way as it completely retrieves all the deleted data of my friend off from his phone memory card. It can work well on both of a memory card and hard drive! Just give it a shot!
Read further information of this PC data recovery freeware here:
http://www.freeware-fix.blogspot.com/2013/02/data-recovery-for-pc.html
3). Save and back up all the restored photos on a different drive in case of data recovery failure.
Note: Never forget to back up everything important at least on two hard drives or locations in the future.
Good luck!

If you did not empty the trash, you can open the trash and drag and drop the photos back into the picture or iPhoto folder. If you have emptied the trash, let me know and I'll research and see if there is a solution.
If I could be of further assistance, let me know. If this helps or solves the issue, please rate it.
Thanks, Joe

My start up disk is full

Start by emptying the trash on the desktop.

Next, launch iPhoto. Photos that you delete are stored in a separate trash can within the app. Give it a final look and then "empty trash"

Lastly, Empty the trash and spam folders in your email program. Sometimes, I sort all mail by email attachment size. Rarely need the over sized emails. Jokes and movies that got a chuckle last month and be tossed.

I recently found a 40gb of wasted space.

Does my Maxtor back up my iphotos?

Run a time machine backup. Then the easiest way would be to find a photo that you are willing to delete in iPhoto.

Jot down the name of the photo file, delete it. Then empty the trash.

Then go into time machine, try to search for that file, when you locate it, restore it. If you can then there is probably a good chance that you time machine backup is good.

To be on the safe side why not create a manual backup.

You'll find the iPhoto Library at:

/Users/username/Pictures

"username" will be your name that appears when you login to the computer.

  1. To get there, double-click the icon for your hard drive to open it, then double-click the Users folder. Double-click your Home folder, which is identified by a house icon and your username, and then double-click the Pictures folder to open it.
        1. Inside the Pictures folder you'll see a file called iPhoto Library. Copy the iPhoto Library file to a location other than your hard drive, such as your Maxtor external hard drive.

Photos disappear on iPhoto

Hi Linden McNeilly,

In case if you have lost your photos from your iPhoto library. You can recover them back with the help of a photo recovery software. The one which I use is Yodot Mac Photo recovery software to recover iPhoto photos. So if you have any photo loss from your iPhoto library you can use this software.

I recently downloaded the trial version of Aperture 2. onto my Imac, worked fine for a week or so until i noticed a problem where it wouldnt import photos from my camera, which it did fine previously on...

I would delete Apeture from the machine and do a clean install of the application. Do not know if there is an unistall on the installer disk but to get rid of apeture manually try dragging the application to the trash.

Then delete the following folders and files ...

~\Library\Preferences\com.apple.Aperture.plist
~\Library\Caches\Aperture
~\Library\Application Support\Aperture
\Library\Application Support\ProApps\Aperture System ID

Hope this helps

Sony Cybershot - the memory stick is full

More than likely the camera still thinks the photos are on the stick, especially if you deleted the images while it was hooked to the computer. I would safely move the rest of the photos off the stick onto your computer then format the card through the camera and with the camera disconnected from the computer. this should clear the card.

Iphone photos

opened iphoto and it gives "no items to import" ? if true try this. when iPhoto is open and your phone is connected, open the albumn of pictures you've taken with your iphone on your iphone. iPhoto should immediately recognize the new pictures you had taken and should indicate "x items to import." x being number of photos. An alternative to this can be If you individually delete the previously imported iPhone Camera Roll pictures using the trash can on the bottom right (touching the screen brings it up), iPhoto will then see the new iPhone pictures for importing. I believe this can be done without opening at the time of sync the iPhone Camera Roll picture album as you suggested. Give these a try and let me know.

Powerbook no longer recognizes my digital camera

The easiest thing to do is to first back up your photos, then trash your current copy of iPhoto. Then reinstall iPhoto from you Install disc. Then go to Apple's website and get the latest updates for iPhoto Reboot, and don't forget to repair your disk permissions!. That should put you back in business! My guess is that your current app may be corrupted and installing a fresh copy will fix that right away! And remember to do a permissions repair every week or so. This will help you keep your Mac running smoothly.
