My daughter's Canon Pixima MP250 series Phot All-In-One started saying " The printer can't recognize "ink-tank C". She has replaced the cartridge and it still says that.

How do I clean the ink absorber in my canon mp250 printer

The Printer is asking for the Waste pads to be removed and replaced. This is a kit that you must purchase separately. Also the Maintenance counter will need to be reset as well. CAUTION this is a very messy job to perform. The cabinet (bonnet)cover needs to be removed. There are also some "hidden" clips that need to be unfastened to gain access to the Absorbing pads. A qualified printer Tech. can handle this. Also previous posts indicate to just reset the Maintenance count.....bad idea. This will throw-off the already soaked pads, and you will have unexpected "spillage"coming out of your printer. A VERY BIG MESS. Also think about the Print Head. If it has not been replaced, it is also not very far behind the Waste Tank Pad replacement. Good Luck, Best Regards Stephen AKA Machinercylr

I have a canon pixma mp250 and it just stopped working. i got my ink refilled about a month ago and it was working fine and now it says that it isnt recognizing them.

Hello,
You need to press and hold down the Resume button (the red button) for at least 5 seconds with the cartridges installed. Then the printing will continue and the ink level monitor will be turned off. Hope this helps

My printer is a modified printer with the ink being outside the printer. Despite the ink tank being full as it appears on the outside, the printer ink status displayed no ink. The error E 04 was displayed...

Some people say you can override the ink tank sensor by holding down the stop key when powering up the printer. i have not tried this. if it does not work then i suggest you take the machine back to the person who modified it. I have only seen this done to Epson printers. Never heard of it on a canon. Has it ever worked I wonder?

I keep getting a U150 ink tank cannot be recognized message. I check the ink tank, it is full. It lghts when I put it in, but when I put the cover down, the light goes out and is not recoginzed.

YES- the solution is I had been sold a cartridge for the printer that was same series 8 it needs but it was PM Magenta not a stand M for magenta so I found out form Canon - this is not a photo printer and it cannot use photo printer ink attached Canon's reply to confirm. Went back 3rd time got the M in the 8 series and all is good alarm light out and no error saying it cannot recognize the ink cartridge. YEAH!!!

Thank you for your reply.

Yes, the PIXMA MP530 only uses the regular ink tanks and not the photo
ones. This is the reason that it did not work correctly. Glad to hear
that everything is working now. If we can be of further assistance with
your PIXMA MP530, please let us know.

Thank you for choosing Canon.

MP500 ink tank cannot be recognized error U043

I had the same problem. My mp630 is also only 4 months old. I replaced all colour ink cartrdiges(inc black), but was only able to release the function for detecting the ink levels for magenta and cyan. Yellow and black then started giving error message U043, with them alternating between working, but never working at the same time. Getting them all clicked in with the lights glowing red does not solve the problem, as once the printer cover is closed, the same error message turns up. The only thing that worked for me is moving the chip slightly out of alignment, by pushing the sliding chip holder, and I only had to do this twice before they all started working and the printer was unlocked.
