Question about GE JES1142SJ Microwave Oven

Power went out on microwave.

No power microwave seamed to heve a serge though it was not being used.

    It just power, no lights, no sounds..dead. I checked the breaker box, cord, everything's OK. It just died and it's not even 2 years old. What a piece of ****!

    It's a GE JES1142SF...which looks like the exact same thing they now refer to as a JES1142SJ.

    Fuse keeps blowing on GE microwave JES1142SJ. We replaced the fuse 3 times in the last 2 days!

I had the same problem. This was the fix. 1.remove the three security star screws(star with hole in center). 2. using voltage meter or voltage sensor check for power coming from plug through fuse and then the red wire(there's only one) coming from the fuse board that goes to the top of the oven to that round black thing(flame sensor).3. check for continuity of the sensor to make sure sensor has not tripped (if no continuity then sensor was tripped and needs replacing).4. on mine the sensor was fine but I noticed that the voltage was not passing through. The problem was at the connectors. I noticed that the connector was loose and had some signs of arcing. I cleaned and properly connected( this is key because on mine the connector did not pass between the tension loops on the connector). This worked for mine and I hope this works for you.

If you have checked plug fuse there is an internal fuse but you have to remove cover to find it.if you do remove cover "MAKE SURE THAT IT IS UNPLUGGED" AS IT CAN KILL YOU"??????????????

Generally, Microwave ovens have a glass fuse on the main filter board inside the microwave itself. Attempting to replace this yourself (opening the microwave covers) is not advisable. There are several components inside a microwave oven that run at 2000-3000 volts and though it is unlikely, there is a chance the capacitor on the high voltage side is still charged and presents a LETHAL hazard. A repair of this nature should be referred to a qualified technician.

I had a similar problem. Everyone said must be the magnatron or the fuse ....turned out to be a burned out (visually melted) thermal cut out switch ($12) on the top side of the microwave. Had to get down inside the top of the microwave. The cut out switch was tucked away right up against the the microwave box. Hard to diagnose your problem without looking at the unit in question though, could be several different things. However, my philosophy when it comes to repairs...start with the cheap stuff first!

We lost our electrical power, when it came back on, the electrical panel (clock).. began blinking. The clock re-set with no problem. But, now the microwave won't work. I simply get a message that says...

Sorry to read about your problem, I hope this helps you out.

Anytime the power comes back on, their is a serge of power and things get blown up.
in the future, when you know you have a power outage.. turn off your main breakers,, then after the power comes on, then turn your power, you will not get the serge.
now go to you oven breaker and reset both switches, and see if your door lock corrects.

If you still cant get the microwave working, i have to give you this warning, and only say you have a defective control board.

Microwaves must be serviced by technicians due to the inherent dangers involved in repairing these appliances. Internal capacitors can retain a lethal electrical charge even though the unit is completely unplugged. A microwave radiation leakage test must be performed on the unit following any internal component repair.

Went to warm up a food item and after 3 seconds the microwave shut off like the circuit breaker tripped. time face went blank, light inside does not light up and stove top lights do not light. circuit...

You have a fuse behind the screen panel. You have screws inside the microwave holding the panel. you have 1-2 at the bottom. You may also have to remove the vent. It has 2-3 screws which will be inside the vent. These can be removed from the front. Once these are removed the panel will pop off and you will see the fuse The fuse can be bought at a radio shack. BE SURE TO UNPLUG THE MICROWAVE! Good Luck

hi my name is mark, most microwaves have fuses in them. if you are comfortable taking things apart you can fix it. you will need hand tools, a meter to check the fuse. radio shack sells inexpenive ones. unplug the microwave when you disassemble oven. first make sure the circuit breaker to the oven is not tripped. hope this helps. thank for your question.
