Lexmark 4550 language setting cannot change from set-up

The language that appears when setting up the lexmark 4550 appears to be japanese or something and I can't change it. I've tried resetting to factory default settings and this doesn't work either. I can't proceed with the install since I can't get it to reset to English.

I tried resetting the printer to default by trying one of the suggestions for a different lexmark model and it worked; pressing and holding the BACK and START COLOR key, followed by POWER ON worked and reset the settings back to default.

The tip shared in the first paragraph of rhong on Nov 28, 2008 was PERFECT , it is not only to press start color and back key with power button until it shuts down it is to turn the power button on while pressing the back and start color keys.. a little note comes on the screen saying "lang cleared" ...
THANK YOU RHONG !!!!

Change language from japanese english

1) First, go to the "Start" menu, then choose "Settings," "Control Panel" and "Regional and Language Options." Second, click the "Languages" tab, then the "Details" button, the "Settings" tab and the "Add" button. Third, choose an input language from the list. You can choose any language and click "OK" , close the input window. After that, there is a language indicator should appear in the System Tray. And lastly, click "Apply" to finish the process and finalize your choices

My laptop change to japanese language

Assuming you're using windows 7 or vista, go to windows start menu, and type in 'region and language' in the search box. There, you can check the 'format' tab if it was set to Japanese, or other settings like the "additional settings" or "keyboard and languages"

Hope that helps!

My S 304 has came to me with setting of language to Japanese, I wana make it English, Pl help me

It appears that the camera comes in different versions, depending on the region. The "western" version has English, German and French language, but not Japanese. If you camera has Japanese menu, it is probably intended for the Asian market. It may not have English menu.
You can switch language like this:
Press Menu/OK, select the far most right option (Set), select the top option (Setup), press Menu/OK.
Select the second lowest option (laguage) (the lowest being Reset),
use > to display available languages. Use up- or down arrow to select the language and press Menu/OK.

Japanese to English Version

I am not sure if this will help or not but it is worth a try. Here is how to change the language. Hopefully there will be a option to choose English.

How to change the language:

  1. On the Nintendo DSi Menu, use the stylus to select the Settings ("wrench") icon.
  2. Select the right arrow thee times to go to page 4, then select "Language."
  3. Select from the options options on the screen:
    • English
    • Français (French)
    • Español (Spanish)
  4. Select OK (the bottom-right button) to confirm and return to the System Settings.
Note: Some games that feature multiple languages may display in the language you have selected in the system settings.
English.

LANGUAGE SETTING JAPANESE TO ENGLISH

Hello analyn
There may be a simple fix to this problem.
Find a friend that has a cybershot of the same model as your own. In their camera, open the menu and navigate to the language setting. While you do this count how many times you press the button. Example:
Menu
-camera settings 1
-program 2
-personal settings 3 press ok

personal settings
-storage type 1
-date and time 2
-language 3 press ok

language
-spanish 1
-english 2 press ok
-japanese

Although the language is different, the number of spaces should be the same, so even though you can't read it to change the language, you should be able to count it out. Or if you are lucky you may have a Japanese friend who can read it.

Hope this helps
-Chris
