Lexmark 4550 language setting cannot change from set-up

The language that appears when setting up the lexmark 4550 appears to be japanese or something and I can't change it. I've tried resetting to factory default settings and this doesn't work either. I can't proceed with the install since I can't get it to reset to English.

I tried resetting the printer to default by trying one of the suggestions for a different lexmark model and it worked; pressing and holding the BACK and START COLOR key, followed by POWER ON worked and reset the settings back to default.

The tip shared in the first paragraph of rhong on Nov 28, 2008 was PERFECT , it is not only to press start color and back key with power button until it shuts down it is to turn the power button on while pressing the back and start color keys.. a little note comes on the screen saying "lang cleared" ...
THANK YOU RHONG !!!!

Dear Sir/Miss/Madam, Is there any user's manual in English for this model :- Pioneer Carrozeria avic-z77?

Hi...Maybe this will help..Model # may be wrong..

http://www.fixya.com/support/t26130988-change_japanese_language_into_english How do change Japanese language into English language on my AVIC MRZ07...
The general consensus is that Pioneer Carrozzeria devices are usually intended for use in the Japanese market, if the language is already Japanese it probably cannot be changed to another language.

However, in general, when you reset a Pioneer device back to factory settings (the 'factory reset'), the first prompts received should be for
Language setting
Time setting
and so forth. So if you hard reset it, you should get a list of options to choose from, one of which would be either
'English'
or else the Japanese equivalent
'Eigo'.

So see if you can factory reset the device. This is, on Pioneer devices (generally speaking) done by holding down one button while powering the unit On... which button in this case? I am not sure (you have not stated which model of Carrozzeria device you have), but with the model # ***** could perhaps find out more specific information.

Second, click the "Languages" tab, then the "Details" button, the "Settings" tab and the "Add" button. Third, choose an input language from the list. You can choose any language and click "OK" , close the input window. After that, there is a language indicator should appear in the System Tray. I am not sure if this will help or not but it is worth a try. Here is how to change the language. Hopefully there will be a option to choose English.

How to change the language:

  1. On the Nintendo DSi Menu, use the stylus to select the Settings ("wrench") icon.
  2. Select the right arrow thee times to go to page 4, then select "Language."
  3. Select from the options options on the screen:
    • English
    • Français (French)
    • Español (Spanish)
  4. Select OK (the bottom-right button) to confirm and return to the System Settings.
Note: Some games that feature multiple languages may display in the language you have selected in the system settings.

LANGUAGE SETTING JAPANESE TO ENGLISH

Hello analyn
There may be a simple fix to this problem.
Find a friend that has a cybershot of the same model as your own. In their camera, open the menu and navigate to the language setting. While you do this count how many times you press the button. Example:
Menu
-camera settings 1
-program 2
-personal settings 3 press ok

personal settings
-storage type 1
-date and time 2
-language 3 press ok

language
-spanish 1
-english 2 press ok
-japanese

Although the language is different, the number of spaces should be the same, so even though you can't read it to change the language, you should be able to count it out. Or if you are lucky you may have a Japanese friend who can read it.

Hope this helps
-Chris
