It is possible that the router has a wireless security enabled into it. The laptop needs the security key for it to connect to the wireless network. You can check the security enabled in your router from your router's User Interface page.

To access your router's page; launch IE from a computer that is working through the router. Then on the address field, type 192.168.1.1. It will open a window asking for a username and password. The default password to get into the router's page is admin.

Then, once you're in the router's User Interface, the main page that will open is the SETUP, beside it is WIRELESS tab. Click on it, then verify the wireless network name or SSID. Whatever name configured on it, is the name the laptop should connect to.

Then, there is a subtab under the main tab WIRELESS. The sub-tab is called, Wireless Security. Click on Wireless Security tab and then look for the netwok key enabled. Take note of the key which your laptop will be neeeding.

Hope this helps!

I don't know what "Wall" he was talking about. Try with a USB cable mouse. This will isolate the laptop hardware from the equation. It could be that when the memory was upgraded, the mousepad connector became undone. It can easily happen.

I have brought an additional laptop but cannot connect via wireless. wireless is password protected how can i retreve password. also my iternet provider is talk talk.

If it was you who set up your wireless router, you should have recorded that password in a safe place.
If your provider did the setup, you must have the wireless key/passphrase written down in the documents received from him.

There is a method of retrieving a wireless key from a computer that has it stored in the system (like in your case, I understand that you have one laptop working), but it has to use the standard Windows wireless management, not any 3rd party software. If it's controlled by a third-party application, then usually it's hopeless, if it's controlled by Windows, you can try the program described on this page:

Good luck, and please rate and possibly write a testionial if helped.

Use the Five Rs to restore the iPod. You will lose the data that is currently on it if you restore but you can always re-sync the data to the iPod. http://www.apple.com/support/ipod/five_rs/

Will not connect another computer

you have to set up the WEP key. Open internet explorer and enter 192.168.0.1 and click on the wireless tab to set up the security key - there you can create a WEP, or WPA key - remember the key so that you cab enter it into the laptop.

Wireless netowrking issue with the laptop

Try to configure the a static IP address for the laptop on the router. This is done buy finding the LAN MAC address(computer) on attached devices, then designating it a default IP.

Had this problem on my mums work computer when i updated the firmware on my Netgear router.
