HDMI video stutters, blanks, returns...sometimes every few second

Take a look at the video that I shot of the problem, because it's a lot easier to see what I mean than to try to describe it:

Let me know if you have any ideas. Thanks!

Sorry, I should have mentioned that this is FIOSTV from Verizon FIOS. Does that help? Thanks for trying thus far.

Thank you. You've given me some ideas to try.

Hdmi has a bad habit of messing up tv's
but is this satellite that you are using for the hdmi? or cable?
digital signals can do this when inforrmation is messed up comming in to the reciever , also if the box is having internal problems this will happen
can you check the signal level for that station with the info button?

    that would be probably why

because it being digital tv the digital signals can do that , and if they( verizon) are having the technical difficulty with the digital signals then you will see it like that , when it is real bad then the picture will freeze and the sound will cut out

because verizon fios is all digital now you will experience that happening to other channels as well

also the hdmi input will cause more problems than just having the s-video or yellow rca jack for video connection , most of the tv's that have been using hdmi , have had problems and need repair to the input circuit of the hdmi

does this happen on other channels? if so then it could be the service provider or box

if it only happens on one channel then it is the station signal stream

have you tried another type of line from the box ? like the s-video or yellow rca jack for video into the tv? does it still do it? then it may be the box if it still does it , but again could be the service also

hope this info is worth a fixya as all other ratings hurt our scoring

and if you still need assistance I'll be glad to assist you

How To Use My Olevia Television As A Computer Monitor

There are a number of ways this can be done. It will depend a lot on the graphics card you are using in your computer. All graphics cards released for the last few generations from both ATI and Nvidia (and all Intel IGPs labeled HD) have an HDMI output. This is the simplest option. You simple connect the TV via HDMI, set it to the right output, and power up the computer.

If you do not wish to use the speakers in the TV, then you can manually set the audio output to default to your other speakers.

If your graphics card/computer does not have an HDMI output, you will need to buy an adapter for one of the other outputs. DVI to HDMI would be the best second options. Then S-Video (which should look like a circle with dots a a line in it) to component (5 inputs, 3 video/2audio). The adapter will only have plugs for the video.

Any connections beyond this should be avoided as they will not be able to match the resolution of the TV. Forcing the TV or graphics card to upscale say a VGA connection to the proper resolution will create a lot of distortion and give you a terrible image.

I hooked my ps3 to the hdmi connection in the back, neither the system or the tv recognize the connection, i get a blank screen.I know the hdmi cable is good because I tested it.Any suggestions?

It could be that the PS3 is outputting a higher resolution than your TV can handle. Here is an excerpt from the PS3 manual:
If the video output settings do not match those required for the TV in use, the screen may go blank when the resolution is changed. The screen should, however, automatically go back to its original resolution after a while. If the screen remains blank for more than 30 seconds, turn off the system. Then touch the power button on the system front for at least five seconds to turn the system on again. The video output settings will automatically be reset to the standard resolution.

My television suddenly turned itself off while switching from video to hdmi. Now it will only turn on for a few seconds and shows a "no signal" message, then shuts itself off.

We have a 42" Model XV42L HDTV10A 100-240V,2.5A,50/60HZ....when we turn the TV on the screen is flickering and then shuts itself off....sometimes it will come on for a few seconds and then shuts off

HDMI port not working

I have the same problem - its a HDCP handshake issue. Sony says the firmware in the Westinghouse TV needs to be updated - Westinghouse says that they have firmware updates for some models depending on your TV's serial number, otherwise they are working on firmware updates for the rest of us that should fix the problem. Call Westinghouse to see if you can get updated.

While playing xbox 360 in 1080p mod, the screen frequently blanks

Most TV's have problems doing 1080p over component. Dial the Xbox back to 1080i. Make sure the big switch on the Xbox AV cable is set to 'HDTV' not 'TV'(common problem) If the problem persists, try plugging into different hookups, use HDMI (if your console supports it) or buy one of the HDMI adaptors from PDP or MadCatz if your console doesnt. HDMI will reduce the clutter and will make 1080p a reality.

Samsung LTP326w

After few years of service with different TV providers I have problem with my TV. Last night my Samsung LTP326W just did the same think on HDMI connector and no mater what you do it will not turn HDMI video... it's connected to Verizon/Motorola DVR I called Verizon and they promptly replace DVR and HDMI cable but it didn't help at all, also sometimes when you power on/off I get message: The HD Content Protection of your display has been compromised Please use the YPBPR outputs for your HD connection...

When I switch to component cable it works just fine.
