I've checked the user manual (if you don't have it, you can find it here) and you should take a look at chapter 10 - Fax setup, specially on Case E (pages 87-88).
Hope this will help.

We are having issues faxing to one particular number. We think our fax goes through, but spits out a Error 345*. Nothing is sent

fax machines talk to each other before sending data to ensure that the sender/receiver are on the same format and are compatible
for one particular number to be a problem indicates a fax number problem in setting the dialed number area code , dashes etc are all specific
ring the receiving department and ask to confirm that they are having trouble receiving faxes from your number as well

Cannot recieve fax on hp pro 400

HI,
Set Fax Forwarding:
You can set your product to forward incoming faxes to another fax number. When the fax arrives at your product, it is stored in the memory. The product then dials the fax number that you have specified and sends the fax. If the product cannot forward a fax because of an error (for example, the number is busy) and repeated redial attempts are unsuccessful, your product prints the fax.

If the product runs out of memory while receiving a fax, it terminates the incoming fax and only forwards the pages and partial pages that have been stored in the memory.

When it is using the fax-forwarding feature, the product (rather than the computer) must be receiving the faxes, and the answer mode must be set to Automatic .

  1. From the Home screen on the product control panel, touch the Fax button.
  2. Touch the Fax Menu button.
  3. Touch the Receive Options button.
  4. Touch the Forward Fax button, and touch the On button.
  5. Use the keypad to enter the fax-forwarding number, and then touch the OK button.

HP Photosmart C7180 won't print!! I had an IT person come to my home earlier today, and it was printing when she left. Not 20 minutes after she left, it wouldn't print for me!!! This is the second time...

It would seem that your default 'printer' is set to fax and not print.
When you select print from the file menu it probably says something like HP Photosmart C7180 Fax in the printer option. If it does, go into the printer section from the control panel and make the C7180 (without the fax reference) the default (right click>set as default)

Too many printers listed

Not sure what happen to this but I had the same problem. What you need to do is highlight each one except the first HP Photosmart 4100 series, and delete all the other ones.

So delete the following 6 printers.

Send to One Note 2007
Microsoft XPS Document Writer
HP Photosmart C4100 series (copy 1)
HP --------------------" ------" (copy 2)
HP....................................(copy 3) AND
HP ..................................(copy 4) which is the only one that works!!!!!

Now the one that is left should be the default. Do a test page or print something out to make sure.

This should fix your problem. Please rate.

Unfamiliar with my friends FAX machine

Assuming that that the machine has a live telephone line plugged in and that it is functioning properly, then you can place your document either face down on the glass or face-up on the feeder (if multi-page). Simply use the numerical keypad on the printer to dial the fax number you wish to send to (don't forget a 1 if long distance) and then press the [Black] button under the START FAX heading. That's it.

You can also send through the software (fax from Word, etc.) by going to File --> Print and choosing the HP Photosmart C6100 Series Fax from the list of printers... but printing a hard copy may be the simplest way for you.

Hp photosmart 2610 all in one series. I can receive faxes but can't send them

First, in the FAX mode, scroll to PRINT REPORTS on your HP's display. You can then print out all fax activity, including failed SENDS. There should be an error code associated with the failure, and this may help to point you in the right direction. Using the HOOK button on your fax, call your cell phone. If your cell rings, answer it, and listen for the FAX TONES. If your cell does not ring, press the MENU button on your HP, and scroll to either FAX SETTINGS, FAX SETUP, INITIAL SETUP, or FAX SEND MODE. Try changing , one-by-one, any settings related to sending faxes. Be sure to write down the original setting before you change it.

I have a new HP Photosmart C7200 All-in-One Series printer, scanner, copier, fax. I can send faxes, but am not able to receive incoming faxes. According to the fax log, several faxes per day have tried...

Is the phone line for the fax dedicated? an answering machine? it would need to be plugged into the fax machine. Set the number of rings very low,

If you have another phone line, call the fax & see what it does, alternatively, have a friend call with a fax machine & monitor the progress.
