Question about DVD & Blu-Ray Players

1 Answer

"disk error" occurs when disk is inserted

Toshiba dvd SD-2900 says "disk error" when disk is loaded. The player is only a couple of years old and rarely used. We have tried different dvd's, with the same results. I have the manual and there is no mention of 'disk error'

The drive cannot read data from the disk, follow these instutions:
if you are using vista, right click on "computer" then select "manage" then select "device manager". look down the list until you find CD/DVD and click on the + icon next to it, then right click on the CD/DVD and select un-install (make sure that there is a disk in the drive, preferably a movie or music CD) then restart the computer, when the computer restarts vista will detect the drive and install the drivers again, look in computer to see if the disk has been recognised

let us know how you get on

This one is shot. You can buy a new reader and replace it but most cases it is just not worth the hassel vs the cost savings.

Dvd will not load just keeps flashing loading This includes any type of dvd. Anyone have an idea to get this thing running?

try a few different types of media....if still no luck then your going to need some laser servicing or possibly replacement. same old same old im afraid. if the unit is more than a couple of years old then be carefull how much you spend for a service. may not be worth it.

i think your problem is that your lens( laser lens) that reads the disk is dirty. Try this get q-tip and put just little rubbing alcohol and clean the lens.
