Would be helpful to know make and model, as there are some default passwords that may work. Was the laptop pre-owned? Normally there would be no poasword set, unless your manual says otherwise.

Try turning it off by holding down the power button until it powers down. Then try to boot it and see if it goes back to normal

you can also try taking the battery out and running it on the mains only. This is common in toshiba laptops if you do not keep the bios updated.

I need a power on password or to bypass this..i have a compaq evo n600c laptop, please help me

Press F2 button (repeatedly and fast) right after pressing power on. That will take you into the BIOS setup. BE CAREFUL IN THERE. Don't make changes unless you absolutely know what they will do. Read the screen (top or bottom) for instructions on button navigation through menus (the mouse/trackpad will not work in BIOS mode). Then look for the ''Password'' screen and navigate to that screen selection. If found, change from ''enable'' to ''disable.'' If it requires the password to make that change, then you are stuck (sorry).

If this problem _is_ in your BIOS, it means either you bought this computer used and whoever sold it to you owes you either a password or a refund. Or, if this has been your computer for some time, then someone played a nasty trick on you by enabling this feature inside the BIOS when you were not around. If so, find said person and wring neck for password.

Ps... You can also try a ''Password Bypass Boot Disc'' either on sale at ebay, or various web sites. Or download the ISO of such a disc online and burn it to CD yourself. (Don't pay more than $10 for such a pre-made disc). Note that such discs will not solve the problem if it is in fact inside the BIOS (which I really think yours is). These discs are for the ''Windows User Account'' password. And again, your screen looks very much like a BIOS password to me.

Good luck.

How to remove bios password

What brand of PC are you using? If Dell, there is a hidden backdoor. Go into the BIOS (or setup screen) and navigate to the screen that allows you to set a password. Try inputting "admin" (without quotes) when you select it. As a new password, type in no password (don't type in a password) for the first and conformation password.

Hope I helped!

.shabazz19asking for a password for

You need a bios master password for your notebook which you can get from Dell or I use to get a bios master password when I get a laptop with an unknown bios password in my work as a laptop repair tech. They charge $20 and guarantee the bios master password to delete currently set bios password. Giving you full access to the bios setup utility. I use them often in my work repairing laptops and they do a great job. They have a phone number that a human answers in case you get stuck or have a question.

It powers on then screen lights up,hp invent, and stays for a min. then a black screen appears . sayin enter password... we just bought this in failed to get password... so were stuck ... cant get no where.

looks like a BIOS configured password. You can try opening up the machine, and locate the BIOS battery to remove and wait a couple of minutes, say 2 mins before re-inserting it again.
Hopefuly, It should reset your bios config and let you get past that screen.

How do i get my siemens v2010 laptop out of hibernation.the screen has suddenly gone dark.the computer turns on and is fine, but you can only just see whats on the screen

You might have to restart the computer if it is stuck in hibernation. The best thing is to go to your settings and turn the Hibernation setting and sleep settings off. Go into your display settings to find this. Also when your computer starts look for the BIOS option to show on the screen to check the BIOS and make sure it is turned off there. To get to the BIOS hit the DEL key or one of the F keys to get into the BIOS. Do not password the BIOS of your Laptop. This can cause a lot of problems if you forget this password. It can not be recovered easy.
