You might try Hitachi for the service manual with full breakdown.
Basically the entire front screen unit comes off from the front in one piece, then inner two screens come out--carefully! and then frame needs to be partly pulled apart to get out screen from rear as it is in a slot all around the frame.
Pls check that model number........the problem description does not match that of a 1999 crt proj tv.........I believe yours is a newer lcd projection around 4 or 5 yr old?? Lamp light flashing on any brand is indicative of the lamp not lighting . The lamp is the most likely cause, but the ballast board can cause this as well..................you should see an access door refer to owner book of the correct model and you can replace yourself...........it may cost around $200 and avaiolable at encompass parts .com Hitach distributor
Removing the screen is your best bet -
1 Remove speaker grill
2 remove 4 screws holding the screen frame
3 then lossen the bottom corners where the screen meets the frame by pulling outward (some force is required) and work your way upwards towards the top (two people may be required for support)
4 tilt the loosened frame(20-30degrees) from the bottom up and the top shoul lift and seperate from the frame.
After the screen is of you'll be able to tell what to remove next.
Hi, I have a brand new in the box screen for a 50 inch rear projection tv. I was going to put it on ebay but if this is what you need and what I have--well we can go from there. Email me with any questions you may have. Thanks, firstname.lastname@example.org
No, do not attempt this as you will damage the unit if you try to take it apart and reassemble it. They are not built for dis-assembly and re-assembly. They are easily damaged. Rather, rent a large industrial hand truck and use several straps to secure it to the hand truck and about three men to help you. It is about the only way to do it.
Be careful... there is a fragile mirror inside which can be broken if bumped abruptly.
Yes you can safely clean tv, just remove front speaker panel and you should see screws holding up front prot. screen. Becareful not to snap screws. You can take screen out and there is a mirror that you can clean and 3 lenses.
