Toshiba 32AF41 Power up Problem and Green Screen

My flatscreen TV will startup with a purple/magenta screen. The picture is all there. In as little time as 1 hour, as long as a full 24 hrs, it will then go to a green tint over the whole screen. The fleshtones won't be true, they will have a slight red/orange tint to them. I can get blues, etc., but the whole screen stays with the green tint. It doesn't adjust out & it doesn't matter what input or type of device is plugged into those inputs. Solution(s)?

Re: Toshiba 32AF41 Power up Problem and Green Screen

My first inclination would be to check the picture tube, especially if the set is over 7 years old. If it is not that, then anything from bad solder connections to capacitors or a defective IC could be the cause. If it's over 10 years old, replace it. No use flogging a dead horse.

Purple haze tv screen

Purple color on screen denotes absence of green color. Check the vidieo output section circuit board for any loose solder terminals. Re-solder all the suspected solder terminals by applying a little more solder, without making any solder bridge short in between adjacent solder terminals. This board can be located at the neck of the picture tube, will diretly plugged on to it.

I have a 32af41. Green horizontal retrace lines show up on screen then it faint at first then more and more apparent then it flashes green and turns off. I can only turn it back on by unplugging the tv...

These are caused by the ageing of the tube and the final video transistor for the green cathode - the cutout voltage on the final video board is no longer doing its job as the tube heats up so the current passing thru the tube goes up until the X-Ray protection kicks in and cuts the power completely.
Resolder all the components on the video board and try to readjust the cutout voltage - there's a semiadjustable resistor on the video board, right next to the video power transistor - this will give you a few more months of use.

Green and purple vertical stripes on our TV screen

The cause is one or more shorted transistors either on CRT board or on main or both. The colors are red, blue and green, you have a transistor for each and a bias trans. check each there are 6 in all.

Green is not being displayed on my TV

If you have experience troubleshooting solid state TV sets, you should be able to tell by a couple of voltage measurements if its a problem with the picture tube or the drive circuit. Simply take the multimeter and compare the base voltage of the green drive to the red or blue drive transistor. If the voltage is about the same, measure the collector of all three. if the green voltage on the collector is higher then the others, then theres an open between the drive transistor and the crt element. this could be an open resistor, a bad solder connection on the crt socket, or an open picture tube element. If theres no voltage there then your going to have to trouble shoot the drive circuit.

Red lines across screen

it sounds like a b+ cap going bad and is intermittant that feeds the the video drivers on the crt pcb or the crt is shorting. I have seen intermittant shorts in crt before.
