Question about Smeg Kitchen Ranges

1 Answer

Hi the minimum flame on my cooktop is too high - I need to adjust this - the instructions suggest there is a screw within or at the side of the shaft beneath the control knobs - this is not true - model is PGFA95FX. Thanks Alan

Don't know the brand from that#, but Adj screw is typically inside the shaft. Need a long very thin screwdriver to get to it. I cannot see your repyl due to some tech issue w/ the site, so it may be a day or so before I can reply again. Please leave feedback for me if appropriate. Thanks

My Mabe Model 233-51041590 flame levels are to high. How do I solve this problem?

Hello there and thank you for choosing fixya:
Remove the knob to the burner you want to adjust. Depending on the make and brand; Then either in the center of a hollow shaft or right next to the shaft on the valve should be a small screw. That screw will adjust the low flame level.

But many ranges and even furnaces can be a little over fired. The adjustment from the factory is for "average" BTUs.

I hope this helps. This adjustment might be mentioned in the owner's manual or in the tech sheet hidden in the range. (Try looking for the tech sheet by removing the lower drawer and looking on the side wall. Please return it as techs might need that. But it may only contain a schematic.)
Best regards mike

The right hand oven lights, but no matter which gas mark setting you select, the flame does not rise to increase oven temperature, but stays on pilot settings

the flame needs to be adjusted there's a small screw right inside of the shaft where the knob goes. Pull knob off and there should be a screw inside that u shaped shaft. Turn the burners on and set the flame accordingly.

The oval burner has only very low flame, even when set on high

Every one of these ranges that I have seen with the oval style burner on them have a smaller flame then the normal round burners. And there is very little difference between the low and high settings. It sounds like what you are experiencing is normal. What the GE repairman was adjusting is called the "simmer stop". There is a small flat head screw inside the burner stem. By turning this screw you can adjust the size of the burner on the low position of the burner knob. This should be adjusted to where the burner still stays on when the knob is at the lowest setting. I do not think that you need the burner repaired. From my experience they are all like that.

Need to adjust the burners the flames to high

Hello there:
Please follow these very easy steps and this should help you
Instructions Things You'll Need:
  • Gas Ranges
  • Screwdriver Sets
  1. Step 1 Find the tube that feeds the burner. There's a burner air adjustment on it that mixes the air and gas.
  2. Step 2 Look to see what type of burner air adjustment you have: It will either be a barrel-shaped chamber or triangle-shaped with a cover plate.
  3. Step 3 Loosen the air-shutter screw on the barrel-shaped type. This screw is on the end of the barrel closest to the burner.
  4. Step 4 Open the shutter on the barrel-shaped type by turning it counterclockwise; close it by turning it clockwise. Opening it will add more air, which will make the flame higher; closing it will reduce the air in the mix and lower the flame.
  5. Step 5 Loosen the screw holding the plate on the triangle-shaped burner air adjustment. Don't remove the screw - it just needs to be loose enough to move the plate.
  6. Step 6 Move the plate so that the opening is either more open or more closed. More open will make the flame higher whereas more closed will lower the flame.
  7. Hope this is very helpful for you
  8. Best regards Michael

Need to adjust burners

Pull the knob off and look down the middle of the shaft. There may be a small slotted screw for adjustment. It should be adjusted on low setting only.

BO696 problems-burners too high on lowest position (propane used)

Remove knob, with flashlight look down top of shaft see a slotted screw that screw is flame adjustment.

To adjust, light burner, turn flame to low, with screwdriver turn screw rite till flame is at desired hight (aprox 2mm). now turn up to high check that high is satisfactory if high is to low then adjust screw. check low again. adjust till both setings are acceptible.
do for all burners

As for holding the knobs that is common with this stove, you could check to see if flame is hitting sensor the burner hole that lines up the sensor may be dirty.

Burner does not hold its flame on a Feather 442 stove

IF THE FLAME IS LIFTING OFF THE BURNER, THERE IS TOO MUCH AIR IN THE MIX. LOCATE THE END OF THE BURNER WHERE THE FUEL ENTERS THE BURNER. THERE SHOULD BE AN ADJUSTMENT HOOD THAT CAN BE MOVED TO PARTIALLY BLOCK THE AIR INTAKE. THIS WILL REDUCE THE AIR MIX AND SHOULD MINIMIZE THE FLAME LIFTING OFF THE BURNER.
ON SOME SEALED BURNER COOKTOPS, THE MANUFACTURER RECOMMENDS PLACING A PAN ON THE BURNER AFTER LIGHTING TO MINIMIZE FLAME LIFTING.

IF THE FLAME GOES OUT WHEN SET ON SIMMER,
THERE IS AN ADJUSTMENT SCREW IN THE SHAFT OF THE VALVE ON SOME MODELS. REMOVE THE KNOB TO GAIN ACCESS TO IT. YOU WILL HAVE TO OBTAIN A SMALL SHAFTED FLAT BLADE SCREWDRIVER TO MAKE THE ADJUSTMENT.
