Dear White russian. I am a luddite when it comes to computers being a 68yr old invalid. I followed your instructions and left clicked on Delete temp files, cookies etc. I then got a page heading Delete Browsing history. Your instructions to follow link and reinstall Flash at this stage were meaningless to me. What do I do now. According to my control panel I have Flash player 10 activeX and Flash shockwave player 11 installed so why should be reinstalling flash. I feel that my security settings or whatever software I have installed for registry settings is not allowing me to get thru to the last page of the game. Please help-deciesman

  • deciesman Dec 05, 2008

Bibleman01- I think you are probably right as the problem started when I changed my security to AVG and also downloaded DAP for quicker downloads and registry purposes. How do I change settings in the control panel to allow cookies from king.com-deciesman

  • deciesman Dec 05, 2008

bestdarngood-Thank you for your suggestion. It is the same computer and the promlem started around the time I changed my security to AVG and also bought a system DAP for quicker downloads and for to keep my registry up to scratch [baffles me]. So I agree that something is stopping me from getting thru to the last page of the game. If I restore settings-will I lose my security and be left unprotected?-

Alright, i read through half your responses but got tired so this may be a repeat.

Most Likeley the issue is due to Vistas over protective security or the Flash Player.

AVG is great and doesnt cause these issues as i have used it for 8 years with no problems.

Try first to completely remove Flash Player and all prior installs and updates. Do this using ADD/REMOVE programs located by going to START>CONTROL PANEL > ADD/REMOVE PROGRAMS.

Un-install it all, then go to Flash website and install the newest version, heres the link.

http://www.adobe.com/go/getflash

Make sure to close Internet explorer and re-open it after the install so the settings take effect.

Now VISTA by default, has this annoying program blocker that pops up every time you make any changes so this may be causing some of the problems.

You can click OK and Continue on all the security pop ups and see if that gets you through.

You could disable the extra vista security by going into START>CONTROL PANEL> USER ACCOUNTS, then select you user acount and there should be an option in there to turn off User acount program access security, or something to that effect, you may have to look around a bit to find it depending on your visual set up.

You may have to restart the computer to take effect. This will stop the VISTA's extra security.

Let me know if you need further help and i will do my best.

This problem is easily solved going to the preferences or under tools and options settings of your browser (IE or Firefox, whatever you use) and changing the security settings to allow Active X control. If the message pops up, you can click on the message and change the settings from there. If you need any more help, let me know

Did this just start happening on a computer that you always use or is it a new computer?

If it is the same computer try a system restore.

Go to Start>Control Panel>Performance and Maintenance>System Restore and restore to a point before this problem

If you have any questions about doing this or if this won't solve the problem because it is a new computer, please let me know and I can advise on what should be done instead

you probably will but the system restore is fully reversible so it is a good and safe first option. I would also call you virus protection company and see if anything that is in the software needs to be disabled in order to use the website.

Just try the old simple got to control panel go to internet options. I haven't had vista but what i think you need to do is change your cookie handling settings. Or at least allow cookies from king.com. I have mine set on medium. I would say its that or it could be your firewall settings. Also you need to get one person that you know is computer savvy because i see a lot of people that don't know what their talking about trying to answer questions

I love the 68 computer-invalid comment. My grandmother is a 72 and suffers from the same condition despite her love for (get this, FLASH BASED) online poker or bingo. She had a similar problem with her site of choice and bribed me to fix it in exchange for grandmotherly love and some peach cobbler.

You are using a Windows machine, which by default, likes you to use the internet browser Internet Explorer. While it is great for basic email checking, it has some problems.

Regardless of the reason why you cant use IE (Internet Explorer) to play your game anymore, I STRONGLY suggest going to www.mozilla.com and downloading FIREFOX 3.0 for several reasons.

  1. it is very user friendly. the install is a breeze and very self explaintory
  2. while also being far more secure (think about all that personal information you pass over the internet), it also detects what plugins you dont have but need on certain sites (like king.com) and provides walk throughs on how to download and install them
I promise I am not trying to waste your time. Try my suggestion. It should take a whole 5 minutes to download and install the browser and all plugins and you wont be disappointed.

    Hi again-

RIght-o on DAP and the AVG install. While DAP is strictly for downloading and aside from being somewhat obnoxious, its perfectly harmless. While I love AVG, keep in mind that it includes a firewall. Think of it as something that blocks all the yuck from the internet to getting on your machine and better yet, from sending personal info off your machine to someone else on the off chance you are infected.

The problem occurs when the firewall becomes a bit too aggressive and starts preventing you from accessing programs and applications that are perfectly safe. Do me a huge favor and try turning it off for a moment or two and try accessing King.com either through IE or through Firefox and report back. This might very well be the problem.

If you need help on disabling the firewall, here are a few directions:

    1. Open the AVG Control Center program -> right-click on the "Firewall" component -> choose the "Deactivate" option. Now the AVG Firewall service is switched off.

    2. Your anti-virus protection is not effected by disabling the AVG Firewall. It is only temporarily disables and the Firewall component will be launced after you restart your computer or reactivate it manually.

    Forgot to note two things:

If it does not work right away, try going through the firefox prompts where it once didnt let you download and install flash. I realize you have it installed, but the firewall may be preventing the flash application from accessing the internet like it needs to in order to work.

Also, just a tidbit of information: A plug-in is nothing more than a mini application that snaps on to another application like building blocks. In this case, the Flash program you downloaded is not a stand-alone application. It is only a plug-in used to work in your internet browser (whether it is IE or Firefox) and will only work when prompted by the browser.

Really hope one of us gets down to the issue. Definitely know what its like not to be able to get onto a game you're admittedly a bit addicted to- its like its right there within your reach and mocking behind a piece of glass, tongue out and all.

If none of this helps, be sure to keep posting feedback. Eventually one of us will get down to the problem as all of the experts are truly that- experts. We have a great combination of experience in a variety of fields and this, as frustrating as it is, is a considerably small problem when compared to some.

    Good luck!!!

I think bibleman's suggestion about the firewall (loaded when you downloaded AVG) is spot on as you can see from the other comment. Also, what he said is very true about people trying to answer questions about computers without knowing what they are doing. Luckily, I, like a lot of the other experts attempting to your question, either have degrees in computer science/information technology or years of experience in or fields.

What he suggested about the firewall can be easily fixed. Simply Go to the control panel and follow the instruction I pasted two comments up on how to disable it.

As for cookies, if you are using Internet Explorer, please follow these steps:

    1. ) open Internet Explorer
2.) First click on TOOLS at the top of the screen, then click on INTERNET OPTIONS
3.) Click on the tab marked "Privacy"
4.) Now click on the ADVANCED button
5.) you will now see Advanced Privacy Settings
6.) Select Override automatic cookie handling (its a check box)
7.) Under First party cookies (safe in regards as they are set by the site you are visiting), select accept
8.) Under Third party cookies, select accept or prompt. Just a note: They are pretty self explanatory but the prompting option, while a bit annoying and possibly confusing if you get too many prompts, is safer all in all.
    9.) Click OK/SAVE
10.) Close and re-open Internet Explorer so your changes will take effect

Personally, I don't think cookies are the issue as you have already used the site before. A cookie is essentially a bit of data that is downloaded after you visit a site and stored on your machine. They can be used for anything from auto-loggins (saving username and passwords) or settings to allow certain programs (not to get too technical, but the cookies usually allow javascripts to run and very rarely have anything to do with flash.)

Once again, I hope this helps. If I have been too rushed in my explainations, please let me know and I will try to reword them. :)

I saw that you posted a comment. I HIGHLY discourage you from doing a system restore as it will go back to your last restore point. Unless you have been manually setting restore points, it can take you back to the systems settings you had months ago or even further. Please read more about system restores before you consider it as you could/would most likely lose a lot of your data in the process.

This might be something wrong with your browser, it might be infected with a mal ware, spy ware or ad ware. i suggest you download and run this little program called combofix follow the on screen instructions and download an antivirus like Kaspersky u can get a 30 day trail. install it and update the definitions and then scan the system for known threats or virus.

Hello there.Without buying a subscription I have these offerings for you.

  1. Update youre flashplayer software, you can click on this link.
  2. If that doesn't work, and the site has anything to do with gambling, and you live in the us, that may be the problem.
  3. if that is not the case, then visit a few of these sites adobe.com, deviantart.com, youtube.com, if you can do that then the problem is likely site specific. meaning that someone doesn't want you to go there.
I hope this has helped you.

Try resetting the personal data in the web browser by going to the Internet Options. If you are using Internet Explorer; goto the "Tools" menu and select "Internet Options." Right there on the "General" tab you will see a button to "Delete" temporary files, cookies, and passwords; left-click the button. Then follow this link and reinstall the flash player.

Firefox and Internet Explorer have separate plug-ins for flash...

If you went to www.adobe.com in Firefox, followed the link for "Get Flash Now!"

The website has already identified the type of web browser you are using and will download a Firefox compatible plug-in; it will prompt you to save the install application on your desktop.

You can run the application two ways, double-left-clicking it on your desktop, or selecting it on the download list that pops-up when using Firefox; also know as the "Download Manager." Once the download has completed just single-left-click "Open" and follow the onscreen application instructions.

If this resolved the problem with going to king.com in Firefox that only resolves half the problem...

Obviously there is something wrong with the Flash setup on your computer; usually reinstalling the application reverts back to default settings and resolves most issues. If you uninstall a program completely from the system, this deletes the application and a majority of the program settings but still leaves traces of the application in the system registry.

The system registry is like a blueprint for your computer and it's not hard to smudge the ink. Using that analogy, it's hard to cover up a smudge with another smudge. There are applications designed to scan for these "smudges" and remove them from the system registry.

I use Uniblue Registry Booster to scan my system every time I install a new application because the are a Microsoft Certified Partner. You can download and try the application for free following this link:

    www.uniblue.com/registrybooster

There are many system registry scanners available and some are included with virus and firewall protection programs such as McAfee Securty Center, Norton System Works, and Norton 360.

You can try to use a different browser like Firefox and check if you can already play that game , since Firefox can automatically install the needed plug in like flash so you can plya the game...

    Try this one:
On your Internet Explorer click on Tool then go to Internet options and click on Security tab then for the Internet click on Custom Level, a new window will pop up and look for Donwload unsigned ActiveX enable it then click OK then try to check if the game is already working..
If still not working close the browser and open the game again...

anti-virus software like noton, mcafee and bullguard will prevent you from accessing these sites properly because they regard them as "dangerous" its sofware like these which are a pain in the backside when you want to access a site and you cant, your firewall also plays a part in this

if you dissable your anti virus software you will leave your system open to virus attacts and malware which will corrupt your system, the option i provided is the safest way to transfer the files to you without doing the anti-virus dissable, there is no other way to do this!!!!!!!

One of the requirements of King.com is to have both flash and shokwave plugins installed in your pc. If you only have one of the two plugins installed, then that could be the reason you are unable to play the games. Another reason could be that the country you are in may not allow you to play due to laws governing the tournaments. To confirm if the countryyou're in is allowed or not check the link below:

"prompt to say that my security settings do not allow websites to use ActiveX control"

change the browser's security setting then.

    Internet Options -> Security

If you have other security suite, add King.com's address to it's whitelist

It's a trick to get your money. Don't play it anymore. They expect you to keep paying and not pay back your winnings. You are being fooled into their game. Please don't buy into these types of sites... people like you are easy targets for such sites.
