You dont need to disable your onboard sound card you may install more than one, if you are using an old sound card without driver just search for the ship driver on it"IC" .

please rate my solution

My Matsonic MS 8157E motherboard has a built in Soundcard, but it does not work anymore, I tried to install a PCI soundcard, but no mather what I try to disengage the built in soundcard, I have no luck,...

There must be a place in your BIOS where you can disable the on-board sound. Navigate to each screen using your arrow keys, <enter> key and find the on-board sound feature. With it highlighted, use the [+] to change it from "enabled" to "disabled". Press F10 (or follow the on screen instructions for saving) and reboot.

Then try installing your PCI sound card. Install it in the slot first, then when prompted by your OS, load the software that came with the device.

SOUND WANT WORK WITH VISTA

Load your CD that came with your ASUS board and go to utilities. In utilities you will find all of your drivers for that motherboard.
If you dont have the CD, then go to ASUS website, support section. There you will be able to download all of the drivers need for your motherboard.
If you still cant get sound to work, check your BIOS and make sure you dont have the audio disabled. If you have a sound card in addition to the onboard audio (built into the motherboard) then you may have to go into the BIOS and disable the onboard audio.
You can also check in your device manager under sound to see if there are any problems there.
To get there using XP go to
Start/Control panel/performance maintance/system/hardware/device manager/sounds
Good luck, I hope this helps

Blank screen after boot up

Remove the card, plug into your built-in card. Start your PC in safe mode. Uninstall all ATI software and delete the card from Device Manager. Restart. Reinstall the ATI drivers. Power down. Install the card and connect your monitor to it. The OS will find the card in default mode - let it. Restart. When it comes back up, you will be able to select the full range of operating modes.
BACK UP :)

No Sound Device

Check your BIOS settings in the setup and make sure that the sound card isn't disabled.

If it is enabled and you are not getting any sound, you may have to get a PCI audio card to replace the mobo audio.

Theres no sound on my computer

Hi luxyan, please enter the bios & make sure you're SoundMAX Audio is set to Enable. (To get the bios to load, press the Delete key every 2 seconds untill the bios menu opends).
Save & exit the bios. Let windows finish loading.
(Windows may ask for the sound driver software). If not than open control panel than open add/remove programs & uninstall any driver software for you're sound card, if listed. Next open the System icon. Click the hardware tab than click the device manager button. Scroll down to Sound, video and game controller. Find the yellow ! point.
Right click once on the ! point & than left click update driver in the pop-up window. Windows Hardware Wizard will open, click No, not at this time & click next. In the next window click, Install from a list or specific location [Advanced]. Than click next.
In this next window click on the green check mark next to, Search removable media [floppy,CD-ROM...].
By doing this the green check mark should go away. Click the Browse button & find the folder where you downloaded the sound driver software. [from Asus oficcial site]!
Click to open the folder & point to (highlight) the folder that holds your driver software. Watch the OK button, it will slightly highlite it's self (meaning windows will search that folder & install the sound driver software if found). Click OK.
Re-start you're PC. Try you're speakers. If you still have no sound than you're onboard sound chip is defective. You're board was made back in 2003, Asus warrants their boards for three years. You're only other option is to buy a PCI sound card an add that to you're PC. (ASUS P4S800D-X link).

Link to some PCI sound cards.

Sound card has become inoperable since I loaded on the IKmultimedia software

Hi,

It seems your system complicates soundcard's driver version and patches. To eliminate problem that causes inoparable one at a time; please consider to uninstall software sound applications and drivers. Remove any secondary or external sound cards and enable the built-in sound card at the BIOS. Now, start the system in Safe Mode try to remove the existing soundcard drivers at control panel sound card properties. Restart the system, well try to prove that the built-in sound card still working by reinstalling it. By then you can disable it again and install your secondary or external sound card. Hope it will work this time, else you'll need to clean up your Operating System astrays dll's using registry cleaners third party software. I met this problem before that my only recouse is by reformatting the system.

When installed INTEX 3D MULTIMEDIA PCI SOUND CARD it is giving sound but immediately it is disappearing

Dear Nath,

I met same problem with my client before. Hope this helps; Uninstall any music or sound application(s) that has remote control feature or disable it (uninstallation is preferred). Now, at Safe Mode(with built-in sound card disabled), in Control panel soundcard device properties uninstall all sound card drivers. Restart in normal mode and reinstall back the sound card drivers. By transferring the secondary sound on another PCI slots may help solve the problem, the reason is the IRQ number conflicts. One of the worst case we met to solve this kind of problem is by reformatting the system but do it only when there is a great need, extra time, file backed-up. Have a great day.

Best regards,
Rosener Guyano

SV400 motherboard receives error message when loadinding operating system

0x000000C5: DRIVER_CORRUPTED_EXPOOL Do you have logitech mouse, keyboard hooked up they say that may be the culprit. An attempt occurred to touch invalid memory at a process IRQL that is too high. This is almost always caused by drivers that have corrupted the system pool. If you?ve recently installed any new software, check to see if it?s properly installed; and check for updated drivers on the manufacturer?s web site. Disable any unused onboard goodies i.e. network card, sound, video if not in use. Disable com ports if not in use. Try to do the install with the minimum cards/drives etc. Then when the machine is loaded add the other components.
