Solution:
If the CPU heatsink is not clogged with dust and lint completely, you can use canned air and just blow it inside the laptop through the openings on the bottom and on the sides. It’s nice as a precaution measure, but it might not work if your laptop already has a problem and the heatsink is completely clogged.
Open the laptop case, so you can access the CPU fan and the heatsink. In some cases you can access the heatsink through the latch on the bottom of the laptop. Sometimes (for example Toshiba Satellite A70/A75) you have to open the laptop case all the way down.
Carefully disconnect the fan cables on the system board and remove the fan. If the fan makes unusual sound when it spins (grinding sound), I would recommend to replace the fan.
Clean the fan and the heatsink with compressed air.
I would also recommend removing old thermal grease from the CPU and applying new grease for better heat conductivity.

Hi, my satellite pro laptop is powered up. I can not shut it off.

If the laptop does not shut down if you go to Shut Down, you can try pressing the power button and see if it shuts down, if not, hold the power button down for 5 seconds and it will power off.

Battery problem

SreeSatya,

Laptop batteries have a limited lifespan. When they reach the end of that life, this is how they behave. How old is your laptop?

I just replaced my Toshiba after three years. Unfortunately, laptop batteries are not cheap. You can find batteries for your system here:

I recently purchased a Toshiba A200 laptop. When shutting down, I pressed "Hibernate" and I now cannot get the laptop to start. Can you please help??

push the on/off button once, to try to open the comp (does not matter that it won;t open), than pres the button continuosely for about 6 seconds (to force it shut down) and than press again once to open ....

if that does'n work than depanding on the OS u;re useing, u have to force the OS to start in normal mode or to check it's self. (for windows, press F8, than u;ll have a start normal mode option ...)
