I understand this model has been discontinued. I have the Thermador oven/warming drawer and mocrowave combo and the microwave died. I need a new one and was told that this is the only one that would fit into this unit. Any suggestions on if I can get a new one or what will fit in this unit as a replacement??? the microwave is 23 1/2 wide Help! I don't want to have to replace the whole unit
-   How can I replace my Thermador MBBS with a new one?? This one just died on me one day and its a built in so I need a microwave with the same demensions as this one?? PLEASE HELP!!-   tatim18
I replaced the defective Thermador MBBS microwave with the Kenmore Elite model 721.66463500. This Kenmore microwave's cabinet has the exact physical dimentions as the Thermador. The controls are also very similar to the Thermador that it replaced. I suspect it was manufactured by the same company that built the Thermador.
Since it was an exact replacement, it fairly easy to adapt the old ducting to the new unit.
I spent the better part of three days trying to find a microwave that will fit and it's hard because so many are on line only. Last night I successfully installed the 2.2 cu. ft. GE profile counter top unit with inverter technology. The unit is an exact match, the Thermador even fits in the GE box with the styrofoam! I installed the venting materials for the side and rear vents and the platform at the bottom. I put the clips and decorative molding on and it's perfect! I found it in stock at Lowe's for $198. I took me about 45 minutes total to install. If I can do it, anyone can - 48 year old mom with 5 kids!
amana and frigidaire appear to make microwave the same size as the MBBS.
While the size of the new thermodor microwave MBES is a minor difference from the old one, the new required trim kit is 2" taller. I will bring my thermodor trim kit to the appliance store and try and find a replacement. the Amana AMC2206BAS $299 appears like it may fit. Mine is under the counter, so I am less concerned about the appearance. I now realize buying a $700 microwave and a $250 trim kit was a total waste of money. Microwaves are disposable ****.

- just replaced my MBBS with a GE Monogram. It's a $450 microwave but I bought the floor model for $340. The face is nearly identical to the MBBS model. The back of the machine was slightly diffent in shape and required some tin snip cutting, but very minor, tofit the install kit of the MBBS. I was very please with the outcome. Used Duct tape to tape the MBBS install kit to the microwave, but the unit works great with the thermodor trim kit.

I've been told they no longer manufacture replacement parts for my 6year old Thermador Combination Oven Model SMW272ZP. The microwave has crapped out and I would like to find a new matching microwave to fit the same opening. Any thoughts other than just checking dimensions on the internet and crossing my fingers that what I might find will really fit? Thermador offers no help!!!
