My Env was doing the same thing. I took out the battery and cleaned the connection points on both the battery and the phone with alcohol. Also make sure the snap that keeps the battery in place has no slop in it.

Maybe you have the option that the phone will restart after an update. Check your menues and deactivate this option. I've had the same problem but mine restarted and dit not die for me. Is your phone dying or restarting?
first check your batteries, maybe its no functioning good, then try to remove mmc & sim and start the phone, if it doesnt shut off itself it means your phone is in memory full condition, have your phone reset/reprogram and your phone would be in good shape
Plz check the terminals where the battery is connected,sometimes those small metal contactors become pressed & do not make a contact with the battery.Try to pull them out carefully to be in contact with the battery terminals.
