These units need to have the evaporator coil cleaned routinely. A cleaning solution can be obtain at a refrigeration outlet. Another common problem is the ice thickness is out of adjustment and the ice gets too thick and will not come loose on the defrost cycle, check the thickness.

Why does my daewoo fridge freezer works intermittently ?

You either have a faulty thermostat, a loose connection or most likely a build up of ice inside the freezer. I had the same problem. Almost replaced fridge. Took all the food out one day, took out the racks and disassembled bottom and rear and found a two foot log block of ice inside air return. Removed ice everything works perfectly.

Does not make ice

Either the ice maker is not calling for water or the ice maker water valve is not working, there are many different types of water valves so its very dificult to tell you what to do without a model number or picture of the valve, but generaly speaking if you VERY CAREFULLY put 120V to a water valve it should open and alow water to flow, you can try this for the valve that has a water line going to the ice maker and see if it lets water go to the ice maker, sometimes there are two valves that must open, one main valve and then another for either the water dispensor or the ice maker. a better first test might be to test the water valve for resistance across the coil and compair it to another coil and see if its close-ish. also you can test some ice makers and see if they are putting 120V to the water valve by bypassing the bimetal and causing the ice maker to go into a cycle, but again a model number is required to know what kind of ice maker you have., even a picture would help

The flap may be getting stuck on the ice guide which is mounted on the arm you push in th dispense the ice . ( pt # 2180224 ) . Try pushing the arm in and look to see if the flap is catching on the clear plastic piece .

Ice maker runs continueously

I don't have the details on you machine but if I were going to trouble shoot this problem, assuming its a temperature probe I would power off the machine, remove the access panel and remove the temperature probe and check it with an Ohm meter or continuity checker for proper functioning by putting the probe in ice and see if it opens electrically. Sometimes the probe is not a simple thermostat type. The bin control on some machines is optical. The ice pile breaks a light beam to turn off ice making. Sometimes the probe is a thermistor. These latter two kinds of probes have electronics connected to them. A simple ohm check will not work for these cases. You can tell what kind you have by looking at it carefully. The thermostat kind that can be checked with a continuity checker or ohm meter is a sealed metal tube. The optical type has a light source and a separate pick up sensor. The thermistor type is a very small device on the end of a pair of wires. For the optical type or the thermistor type write back for more details.
