Question about Genius MousePen 8x6 (MOUSEPEN8X6)

My pen wont respond on the tablet

I have a Genius Mousepen 8x6 Tablet and the pen wont "draw" on the tablet. If I tap an application, it responds by opening the application BUT does not move around, not even in programs like "ToonBoom" or "Photoshop" I have the tablet, but lost the software, does the Software have more to do with the tablet than just drivers? And, If I do need the software, can i buy JUST the software anywhere else? or if the pen is the problem, can i just buy the pen anywhere else? Thanks!!

Thanks! Now my only problem is getting the "Animation-ish" program to work with it :/... For some reason it only will draw dots, but i dont think that's the Tablet's fault, is it?

Just installed Toon Boom 4 and my Genius G-Pen 450 does not draw. I can get it to work on Animation-ish and Pencil but no response on Toon Boom Studio.

No software aside from drivers are necessary. The Genius Tablet comes a configuration menu you can test. If you don't have this, you can get it for free from Genius' website.

You need to hold the pen close to the tablet to allow it to detect movement. I hold my pen <1cm from the surface. You may want to check the batteries.

Out of curiosity, did you apply any of the patches to Toon Boom or Animation-ish after installing the new driver? If so, you may need to disconnect and remove the tablet drivers and software. Reboot, and then install your drivers. Make sure you also have the latest updates from Toon Boom.

Check out this Toon Boom thread.

My replacement stylus won't work for my MousePen 8x6 tablet

Is the stylus the exact same one that came with the tablet? ( I own this tablet.)

If it is, remember to place a AAA size battery in the pen. To open the pen, simply grasp the upper and lower dark purple parts, the ones on either side of the lighter purple band, and pull them apart from each other. Place the battery negative side on the spring, twords the tip of the pen, and the positive side under the small metal hook. Replace the cover, taking care to align the sheet metal hook with the pen clip. (there is a notch there for it to fit inside of.) Now tap the pen against the tablet to wake it up. It should work perfectly. If it already had a battery in it, remove and replace it to restart the pen. If it still doesn't work, try a fresh battery.

My Genius Mousepen 8x6 tablet isn't working with the pen. If the pen touches the tablet, the light lights up, but the cursor doesn't click and it won't move either. The mouse is working fine, though.

My i608 pen stopped working today. I've had it for a month. The mouse was working fine, but the pen wouldn't work at all. Then I left the mouse on the pad and used the pen while the mouse was on the pad, and the pen started working again. Now it works even without the mouse on the pad. Did it re-establish the radio connection or something by doing that? Anyway, saved me the $25 replacement cost.

Try putting a new battery in it. Mine was having the same sort of problems, and they were pretty much entirely fixed by a new battery.

Genius MousePen 6x8 pen drags as if I'm holding down mouse button

Listen up kiddos! I had this same problem and I was troubleshooting....apparently you have to make sure you uninstall the old drivers first and delete the directory entirely, before reinstalling the software.
So, UNPLUG THE TABLET! This is the part that screwed me up... then go to start > all programs > tablet > uninstall. Run the wizard, restart, go to my computer > local disk drive > program files and delete the Genius Tablet folder. Then, install the drivers again, reboot, THEN and ONLY THEN, should you plug your tablet back in.

I also solved the problem by installing the driver from the website. The trick was to uninstall the old driver first.

Genius MousePen 8x6 Problem

I've had a similar problem - I unplugged the tablet from the PC and back in again, the PC recognised it as new and reinstalled it straight away (this is on XP). The first time the driver stopped responding I had unplugged the tablet because intended to deal with problem later. Plugged back in - worked. Twice now. I've restarted to see if the driver stopped again and if I would have to re-plug the tablet, didn't need to, I guess it's a solution to keep in mind next time this comes up.
