i use this trick for windows, don't know if it will be of any help. try holding down the left CTRL button and using the scroll button in the middle of the mouse to zoom in and out. might not work but worth a try.
This is going to sound really weird but I found a fix. I've got a Dell studio XPS laptop and was getting annoyed by the same phenomenon. I discovered the problem was more common when my thumbs were close to/touching the touchpad. I cranked down the sensitivity of my touchpad and things got a lot better. Probably works for many different kinds of laptops.
For my machin - Steps to fix: Mouse Control Panel: Dell Touchpad Tab: Click to change Dell Touchpad Settings: Touchpad Settings: Touchpad Sensitivity: Move it from near "Light Touch" to the middle.
there is another feature in windows that can help with seeing for mature or impaired people it's called accessabiltity......click on start then go to all programs.......then accessories and then choose accessability...click on accessabilty wizard and it will guide you through the set up.....this should save you from having to zoom.
hope this helps you
