I have tried all the video settings in the av component list even reducing the video output but everytime i click on hdmi it doesnt change over and reverts back to the component settings. I have also tried disconnecting the component lead and just connecting the hdmi but i get nothing at all aaarrrrg

  • sked12 Nov 27, 2008

I wish i knew how to change the settings on the tv, im not a dummy by all accounts but there is no menu and there is not a thing in the manual about it.

  • sked12 Nov 27, 2008

sorry forgot to mention i get no signal at all with the hdmi cable attached so i can not change settings via the ps3

  • sked12 Nov 27, 2008

you cant change the hdmi settings because you can not get a picture,i know the ps3 works because i have tried it on my mates bravia, sods law that i chose this model lol

  • sked12 Nov 28, 2008

ok, as mentioned before i have tried the ps3 with different leads also tried on my mates bravia and it works, you cant change the settings on the tv as i have tried on numerous occasions. i have also tried the 4 different hdmi slots. i know the 4 slots are working because i have tried my hd box whiich is 1080p on each one. im begining to think its a compatability issue, the software on the tv i have also updated as well as running the latest ps3 firmware. anymore ideas would be appreciated cheers.

Sked12,

It is good possible that the 42PFL7603D is not automatically detecting the correct resolution of the HDMI signal. I have seen some issues with this TV type related to that. If you turn the PS3 on with the HDMI signal to the TV and you change the HDMI settings on the TV, what happens then? Are you getting a picture?

  • John Andriessen Nov 27, 2008

Ok, no signal at all? Have you tried another HDMI Cable and tried it also on another TV with HDMI (at family etc.) ?

If I see all your work, trying to get this PS3 going on the TV I agree with you that there is something wrong with the compatibility. And I suspect the TV. Is it possible to take the PS3 with you, go to the store or a store where a 42PFL7603D is available and connect it there? All things together I think that your TV has a defect but to be sure, ypu have to connect the PS3 to another 42PFL7603D

This can depend on the tv model, try checking video out settings on playstation.

Lower down the HDMI vieo out settings, see:
    PS3â„¢ | Video Output Settings

One more thing, apart lowering down HDMI video settings from PS3â„¢ | Video Output Settings,
you can also try unplugging TV and ps power for five minutes, sometimes digital TVs need to be reset to accept a picture with a different definition/frequence.

Try setting resolution to 720p, this should be fine on many HDMI TV.

Also switch between PAL and NTSC depending on your region.

Follow indications on the above website (Video Output Settings) to change video setting on your PS3.

Then connect the PS to the Bravia, change settings and come back to your TV, if you still get problems then there is something wrong with the TV.

Test also a different HDMI cable on same TV, just in case.

Your TV 42PFL7603D supports 1080p, set ps to 1080p.
If you are in America set NTSC, rest of the world PAL, see WHAT IS NTSC AND PAL STANDARD?

You also have three HDMI at the back of your TV, Do not use the HDMI 3 , it may not be supported, try HDMI 1 and ensure TV is set on HDMI 1.

All the resolutions formats that PS3 can use are supported on your TV, therefore it is strange that this is a setting proplem.

    Ginko Nov 28, 2008

There is noknown compatibility issue between this TV and PS3 HDMI, therefore this is either something wrong on setting/connections/cables, or the PS3 HDMI signal circuit on PS3 internal pcb is slightly defective, and does not work on all TVs.

I think is more a setting/connections/cables problem, something of those stupid things that are not easy to find out.

Regarding the HDMI plugs, they are not all the same, 1 and 2 are regular HDMI, 3 is analog audio, HDMI 4 is touch control HDMI.

HDMI 3 and 4 may work on the HD box, but will probably not work on PS3 that does not have analog audio.

Additionally, ensure that the TV input is set to same HDMI channel were PS is connected, and try the same HDMI cable that you used on the Bravia.

I do not think this is a setting problem , however check the PAL/NTSC setting on your PS as soon as you can connect it to a different TV.

I am trying to connect my ps3 to this TV. i have tried with AV ables and through HDMI but it does not seem to work. is there a problem with compatability?

hi,
PS3 outputs hi definition video through HDMI ie 1080p. Your tv will not support that resolution. Because its a HD ready one ie 1080i. If you wnat to connect the PS3 through the hdmi then you have to down convert the video output resolution of PS3 to 1080i. for that you have to connect the PS3 to any FULL HD tv and go to the HDMI video setup and down convert the resolution to 1080i. After that you can connect the PS3 to you tv. Surely you will get the video.

There is one more way to get the video in you tv. connect the PS3's component video output to the component video input of you tv and the audio output to the corresponding component audio input . Select component video input on the tv. You need a component video cable and a stereo RCA cable for that.

Trying to use ps3, even after using hdmi cable on input 6 or 7, it says check your device output and i see green lines on my screen?

hi
There maybe some problem with your TVs resolution. ps3 outputs full hd high resolution video(1080p) through its HDMI. May be your TV is not supporting that resolution. Connect ps3's component video out to your TV's component video input and then try. if it ask for any resolution selection. select 720p or 1080i, above that resolution your TV will not support. Your tv is hd ready one, not full hd. ps3 's HDMI out is full hd (1080p).
or try this
Connect your ps3 to any full hd tv and then goto video setup of ps3. change resolution to 1080i (down scaling ). then connect to your TV via HDMI. surly u will get the video.

Think about where you TV audio originates. Unless you have an antenna on your TV, everything IT hears comes from an external audio device like a cable/sat box which almost certainly has a digital audio output and/or HDMI.

I would recommend you carefully utilize your limited connections this way:

Using Page 10 as a guide.

IF your TV has 2 HDMI's or one HDMI AND one Component input:

Cable box (Component Out and Analog Stereo RCA) or HDMI Out to corresponding TV In's if available.

Cable Box coaxial audio to the HTS (3). This way the best broadcast TV multichannel audio goes to the best electronics and speakers.

HTS HDMI Out (9) to TV Component In (if available), otherwise use Component Out (7). I recommend saving the highest quality video delivery path for your native BD because broadcast Hi-Def video is always bandwidth compromised while BD is the best video available today.

Composite Video Out (6) to Composite Video In on TV for HTS management functions.

You still have both Aux In (4) pairs).

I needed to know how do connectd my dvd player with my tv and ditail cablebox form coxs

HI,
IN THREE WAYS
1. FROM DVD'S OR CABLE BOX'S HDMI OUT PUT TO ANY OF TVS HDMI IN PUT VIA HDMI CABLE ( FOR THIS BOTH SHOULD HAVE HDMI CONNECTIVITY )
2 DVD'S OR CABLE BOX'S COMPONENT VIDEO OUT TO TVS COMPONENT VIDEO INPUT VIA COMPONENT VIDEO CABLE ( NORMALLY COMES IN THREE COLOUR ). ALSO CONNECT AUDIO USING A TWO RCA CABLE.
3 . AND ALSO THROUGH COMPOSITE VIDEO CONNECTION.
SELECTION FOR THE TWO DEPENDS ON U. ACCORDING TO UR REQUIREMENT.

PHILIPS 50PF9630A/37

Quick test of the plasma screen itself:

1) Turn on the TV
2) Try to bring up an on screen setup menu using the remote or buttons on the tv.
3) Does the menu appear? If so, the screen itself is ok.

If it doesn't come up you make have an issue with the screen itself. I am not sure it would be possible to set contrast and brightness settings such that the picture would completely disappear, but I suspect you should be seeing something on the screen just from having turned it on.

We also need to know more about what you have connected to the television. HD televisions typically have several inputs on them including HDMI, digital cable, VGA and component. Let's say for example you have PS3 connected via HDMI. You can tell the PS3 to send audio across the HDMI cable as well as video. You also have the option of running separate connections for your audio signal. It is the existence of these options that make it necessary to understand where and how you have things connected, very specifically.

Samsung lcd ln46a550pf3 no sound from hdtv reciever

ok your tv does not come with the very best sound, you have to get a receiver 7.1 or you can use the optical wire , that's if the system you are using has that option.
