On 11/3, I had to have my computer reinitialized and my programs reconfigured. Today I tried to use my printer, but it's offline. How do I get it online again so it will print?
I have a HP Deskjet F380 which is hooked up to my computer. I've successfully installed the printer driver and did few prints, which worked fine for two weeks. Today when I was trying to do a print, the printer staus said to be offline eventhough the printer is connected to the computer and turned on.
Please help rectify this issue. Your help will be greatly appreciated.

The problem is that your print and your computer are not communicating.
Try to print a test page.
This could be a hardware conflict:
right click on my computer
then select device manager
There should be no ! or ?
If there is not an error sign then try to reinstall the drivers again under safe mode.
If there is an error see below
If there is then you have a conflict or other problem with that device
double click the device and see what the device status says.
if it is a resource conflict (sounds like it is) then click the resources tab and at the bottom you will see a conflict device list.
You should be able to adjust your resource allocations from this same window. Do this by deselecting use auto settings and click change settings. You will be able to adjust up and down to find a resource location to use. Like telling the comp where in memory to put the info you don't want it going to the same place as another device is.

Check the status of the printer at Control Panel. Set it to online if it's shown as offline. If this doesn't fix the problem, check whether installing the vista driver available at your printer manufacturer's website helps.
Step 1: a. Click Start, go to Control Panel and select Hardware and Sound. b. Click Printer. c. If the Printer is offline, it shows "Offline" status. If the Printer is online it shows "Ready". d. If the Printer is offline, set it to online. e. Right-click on the printer and select "Use Printer Online". f. The display should change to ready when the printer is set to online.
Step 2: If still you are facing issues, then update the printer driver. This should fix the problem.

The most likely cause for this OFFLINE status on the PC is which interface is selected on the printer. I think the printer defaults to Serial interface, so if you are using USB ensure you select the USB interface via the control panel on the printer, similarly if the connection is parallel ensure the parallel interface is selected. If the connection is serial, ensure the cable is of the correct pin configuration and ensure the serial interface is set up correctly.
You can check if the usb cable is connected directly & securely from printer to your computer. Once it's verified. The display of your printer should show the date/time.
Since the printer is displaying offline you can open Control Panel, go to Printers folder right click on the printer icon and select 'Use printer online' If you have pending documents right click on the printer icon and click on cancel documents.
Try checking for a duplicate copy of your printer driver or check which printer driver is selected as the default and has the status ready.
Right click on the printer driver that has a Ready status click on printing preferences and click on print a test page.

Hello , First, please make sure there is no error message displayed on the LCD screen of the printer Now we will check the status of your printer in the printers menu in the control panel. The printer’s status should be set to “ready” If the printer is “paused” simply clear the print queue, right click on the printer and select “resume printing”. If the printer says “offline”, follow these steps.
Clear the printer queue
Shut down the computer
Unplug the USB cable from your computer and your printer
Unplug the power cable from the printer and wait 15 seconds
Plug the USB cable back into the printer and the computer.
Plug the printer’s power cable back in.
Turn your computer back on.
Your printer status should be back to ready now and you are able to print. Thanks,
go to your programs and select printer and faxes..rigth click your printer icon and select use this printer online..and if you want make this printer to be a default printer select also use this printer as default..
first of all when you upgrade your computer you deleted all your program thats why your computer cant recognized your printer. do you still have the disc the came with the printer if you do dont worry the only thing you should do is restall the program by inserting the disc into the computer and then follow the steps in the screen.
-Do you know this printer IP?
-Can you ping this printer?
-How many printers do you have on your network?
-Did all the printers on your network offline or just this printer?
-Did you check the network cable that connected to your printer?
-you might try to restart printer spooling service on your print server
-If your server is still functional, you might try to reinstall/set up this printer on network
One thing you can try instead of deleting the doucment writer is to change the default printer. You can do this by right-clicking on the HP printer icon and selecting "set as default" from the drop down box. Also try turning the printer off and back on aswell as restaring the computer if you have'nt already. Did that printer ever work from that computer? How is it wired, by "switcher" do you mean a shared printer through you network(was printer sharing configured properly), or an A-B printer switch. Please clarify
