Coolpix 4600 "Battery Exhausted"

My Coolpix 4600 gives "Battery Exhausted" message even after changing batteries several times. I'm using long life lithiums, and they've been working fine for several hundred pictures.

My Nikon Coolpix 4600 has also suddenly stopped working. It just gives me an error message saying "warning: battery exhausted." Sometimes I can get it to turn on for a very brief moment, but it then shuts itself off. It was taking pictures & then suddenly gave the error message. I've changed the batteries & it still has the same error message.

I have the same problem with my Nikon Coolpix L15. I hand-carried the non-working camera (which was within the warranty period) to a local Nikon office. They kept the camera for 2 weeks and returned it to me. I thought it was fixed, but NO! After I took it home, I found the same problem still there. I've already spent 10 hours to fix it, and I don't want to waste more time on it, so I gave up and did not bring it back to them.

As the other person says Nimh rechargable batteries are the best....Also somewhere in the menu system you will find that you need to define which type of battery you are using, this may be the cause...Nikon UK have an excellent after care team if all else fails.

SOURCE: My camera Nikon coolpix L21 . shows battory

Hello,

Are you using rechargeable batteries? Even rechargeable batteries have a life span. If you get "Battery Exhausted" error, it means it is time to change the batteries for a new one.

I hope this helped you.

You can rate my anse if you appreciate my help.

Thanks!

Nikon L100 shows battery exhausted error message after installing new batteries. Unable to perform any operations on camera

That's the bug in Nokin L100, update the firmware version from 1.0 to 1.1, this will solve the battery exhaust problem. Firmware version 1.0 has only 2 battery (Alkaline and Lethium) option where as Firmware version 1.1 has Nickle battery also. But, to update the firmware you need to have EH-67 AC Adapter to give power to the camera.

Screen black in all lighting. Icons and Menu show but screen otherwise black in all modes. Can view photos on card. Can take a picture, but it is also black. Lens cover is open. Nikon Coolpix 4600. Thanks...

Hello, I went and researched a few points in the manual and hope this helps to some extent. If this doesn't help, try resetting your camera by removing the batteries for 30 seconds, then reinstalling them and turning on the camera again.
Monitor is blank:
• Camera is off.
• Batteries are not correctly inserted or battery-chamber
cover is not properly latched.
• Batteries are exhausted.
• EH-62B AC adapter (available separately) is not properly
connected.
• Camera is in sleep mode. Press shutter-release button
halfway.
• Monitor is off.
• USB cable is connected.
• AV/Video cable is connected

No picture is taken when shutter release button is pressed:

• Camera is in playback mode.
• Batteries are exhausted.
• Red (!) lamp flickers: flash is charging.
• Green (AF) lamp flickers: camera unable to focus.
• Message "CARD IS NOT FORMATTED" appears in
monitor: memory card is not formatted for use in your
camera.
• Message "OUT OF MEMORY" appears in monitor:
insufficient memory to record picture at current Image Mode selection.

No firmware upgrade available yet, but did you set the camera settings to the TYPE of battery you are using? Go to Setup, chose Battery, then set type - alkaline, lith, metal hyd, etc and see if that helps.
