I changed from 64 bit to 128 bit back to 64 bit in 1 hr. It was an accident, and now my laptops will not recognize my router. My cable company has tried everything over the phone. We have changed the...

When you changed the WEP encryption from 64 bit to a stronger 128 bit encryption the encryption code gets changed and when you changes it back to 64 bit the new 64 bit encryption code will be different to the old 64 bit encryption code, that is why your laptops cannot connect to the router. The laptop wireless card needs to be configured with the new 64 bit encryption code before it can connect to the wireless router.
I suggest you configure the wireless router with WPA or WPA2 encryption, this is a much stronger encryption method than the old WEP encryption.

Need to update my browser how is it done please?

You can download update for Microsoft Internet Explorer from www.microsoft.com/ie. If you are wanting a different browser such as Firefox, Opera, Google Chrome, etc. You will need to go to their respective download page and download the installation pertaining to your operating system and hardware type (64-bit or 32-bit). There is a lot more information that is needed as in what Operating System are you running? What version of the operating system? Is your operating system 32-bit or 64-bit? Please provide more details of exactly what you are attempting to accomplish.

Will the Linksys wireless router model G WRT54GS work with a computer equipped with windows 7.

There should not be a problem with a computer running 7 and the router. The one thing you will have to worry about is if the wireless card in your computer will have 7 support. I know if you have a 32-bit (x86) installed, you won't have any issues. Just be sure you update the drivers for it. If you have the 64-bit version, check with manufacturer to see if they have 64-bit support for the wireless.

Good luck.

Installation CD Will NOT run for the Xtreme N Wireless Gaming Rou

1. If the Operating system is a 64 bit operating system and you try running a CD that is geared to a 32 bit operating system it will not work properly.
It is not compatible. Drivers for the device are 32 bit and your operating system is for 64 bits.

For some reason our lap top is not able to pick up wifi from our netgear.

Lots of reasons are possible.
A) Operating System
1) wireless adapter is disabled by your OS

B) Router settings -- you have to access the web page interface for the router ( usually 192.168.1.1 or similar address)

1) check Wireless settings. Do you have the router broadcasting the ESSID and channel ? Make sure you have enabled the radio broadcast.

2) Is the Access control list box checked?

If so, look to see what MAC addresses are included. Maybe the MAC address of your laptop needs to be stored there if you are limiting who can connect.

3) Check security -- If you have WEP or WAP enabled, make sure that the password is what your laptop is using. It's also important that the number of bits (usually 64, 128) set there is the same as the laptop uses.

4) check Schedule -- make sure that someone hasn't blocked access based on the time of day that you are trying to use your laptop to get to the internet.

C) Router location. If the router is setting on the floor or surrounded by lots of metal barriers or too distant from the laptop, then you'll have trouble. Try these one at a time to see if the laptop can tune in the radio.

D) Pure heart? Not having a pure heart can lead to lots of nasty disappointments.

Laptop will not allow router to connect because software does not support. need to sownload drivers to laptop but cant find out how

You'll need to locate the manufacturer of the wireless device in your notebook.

If it is built-in, go to the notebook manufacturer's web site and download the latest drivers for your particular notebook model's wireless card. If your wireless card is a PC card that you purchased separately and slipped into a slot on the notebook, you'll need to pop it out and determine than manufacturer's name andmodel for the card. Go to the manufacturer's web site to download drivers for the card.

Download drivers that are for the OS used on the computer (Mac, Windows XP, Windows 7, 32 bit or 64 bit)

I hope this was helpful!

Netgear WGR614 Router won't configure to 64 bit Vista

If it's a new router read the book with it and it will tell you how to access the router via internet explorer. Something like this, on the address line of IE enter //192.168.0.1 and type enter. You will need the default login and password from the manual.

Need help before buying laptop with 64-bit OS

Your router doesn't care about your OS, all it's dealing with is networking packets and protocols ant for that Vista 64bit is acting like anything else, there's no such thing on the brand new laptop market what won't work with a router via cable or wireless.
Long story short I can tell you that it will work and if there'll be a problem it wont'be 64-bit vista itself more likely the wireless password if you don't know it. Buy that laptop if you like how it looks like and what it can do for you.

The router protocols (on air and ethernet connection) are independant of the operating system. Vista 64 bit will work with the router.
