Hi there in answer to your response my TV is a Sharp 68cm silver flat screen TV brought 4 years ago I'm not sure of model but i did find this number on the bottom corner of telly near where you lift up flap to plug in your AV cords it is CX68NF5, if you could help I would greatly appreciate it.

You might have blown an in line fuse. It would be right where the power cord hooks up to the TV. If that's the case and you replace it and it blows again call the repairman. Real good chance it just blew though. Good luck.
patrioticdog-I have just answered a similar problem, you can remove the back and find the flyback transformer. The big part with the round rubber plug hooked to the pix tube. there will be two controls on the flyback one for focus one for screen. turn up the screen ever so slightly,your screen will brighten up.Also if you check the main pcboard ass'y there may be a sub bright control same thing small adjustments. maybe tell the guy to give a bit off cause of repair ,good luck let me know. cooltek Feb15/08
Temporarily unsolder/remove vol up/down tactil
switches on front of circuit board.They may be sending unwanted signals to the microprocessor.
Does set work normally now? 2)Try removing
batts from remote.3)PVAT! Pull chassis, Solder
any/all bad connects esp. regulator pins.4)Send in to shop for diagnosis.
