issue booting up notebook. have acer aspire 5610.
turn on, and starts boot process, goes through motions and passes the 'f2 setup' stage and as soon as it does that, everything just seems to die, there is nothing showing on screen although the screen is 'on' as there is some illumination of screen. just no graphics etc... no noise coming from unit either. fans started on startup but died as well when got past the 'f2' stage.
have tried:
removing battery and rebooting with a/c power only. - no effect
checking for fan blockage etc.. all is very very clean.
removed and reseat memory
checked processor but doesn't appear to be incorrectly seated.
tearing hair out with this, any suggestions??
Regards
Chris

- thanks janelu,
have just tried using external monitor and it doesn't work.
as mentioned above though i am getting picture initially on start up when using the notebook, it's only after you pass the initial ACER 'f2' screen that the image disappears, yet there is still life in the screen as the illumination is still there

- one other thing i would mention that i didn't say earlier, is that the power light remains on the notebook although nothings happening, and if you go as if you're switching off from the switch it goes off immediately without hesitation or holding in the the usual 5 seconds

- sorry should have clarified too but the external monitor is doing exactly the same thing as the notebook!

- have resolved this issue, thanks for your help though janelu, was much appreciated.
was after all a software issue. found out that acer notebooks after oct 2006 came with inbuilt recovery management.
this allowed to wipe and reinstall os etc.
so this is also a possible solution for all those users who didn't create a recovery disk when asked to on initial instal of notebook!
to access this as soon as you turn on notebook you hit alt + f10 repeatedly until it launches, then follow the prompts!
Thanks, hope this solution helps others too :D
The Video Chip or VIdeo board was faulty, you need replaced motherboard or video board 9if it has), unless you can find components level repair tech near you.
