Returned the item to the supplier and demanded a refund on the grounds that the goods were not of merchantable quality! Bought a different make - one from a more reputable manufacturer!

Message on screen says please check aerial or local dvb service availability, press OK to start auto set-up - but this doesn't help

The message indicates that the TV is not receiving a signal from either the external tv antenna or from the cable company. So, if you have cable, and it is correctly connected to your TV, you need to call the cable company for service. Once you have a signal, THEN you can run auto setup to capture the channels to your set's memory.

Hi there... When it is raining around our house in Elwood, we get signal outages on our LCD screen. I've checked the connections to the wall and everything is OK. But in the last two weeks we have had...

if you are using a satellite dish, then yes the rain is the problem, especially noticeable with heavy downpours, common problem here in the uk.if you are using a standard tv aerial, its quite possible water is gaining entry to the connections on your aerial.picture breakup is usually associated with poor signal reception.you could try replacing the aerial with a high gain type, cheap as chips to buy,and should create a vast improvement.its not the tv...hope this helps and let me know how it goes.....steve

No signal

Hi and welcome to FixYa,

Initially, the displayed message "No Signal" indicates just that, there is no intelligent signal being received. This could be through the Cable/RF/ANT INPUT or through any of the video/auxiliary inputs. This could however, be also interpreted as that the incoming signal is not compatible with the system or within its capability. Example would be an incoming video signal with a high resolution above and beyond that of the TV's.

Might you post back with the brand and model of the TV as well as the signal source that activates the "No Signal" error/message.

Just a start, do postback how things turned up or should you need additional information. Good luck and Thank you for using FixYa.

Some of the newer TV's dont turn on if there is no input signal. Try a DVD player and see if that works. If it does, then the issue is most likely with the cable jack on the TV, which may need to be replaced..

I have a Panasonic tv model TH 42PZ80B; a Panasinic Blu-Ray dvd model DMP-BD50; a sky box (not as yet HD) and a Sony video SLV-SE 830G. I have a Satellite dish and a normal TV aerial. In the loft I have a...

You need to try and isolate the piece of equipment which is causing the problem.

You've already tried the aerial lead direct to the TV and this is OK.

Disconnect all scart leads and try the RF on its own.

Try the Aerial lead to video, then video to TV.

Try aerial direct to Sky box, then to TV.

Try just connecting the RF out from the Sky box to the TV (no aerial input), can you tune into a good channel 68 picture from the Sky box.

Then Try the VCR to the Sky box (no aerial input), see if you can tune into the VCR and Sky channel.
Hope that helps.......

No audio or video

Hi,

If you can see the channel number as well as the volume setting when you press on the appropriate buttons on the remote, then it would seem that what happened is that your TV went into muting (video and audio). This can only be brought about if the TV is not receiving any signal from your cable or aerial. This is a built-in feature. Another possibility is that the tuner section of the TV has some issues. To determine whether cable or tuner, pls try installing a known operational VCR and play a good tape. Connect the RF OUT of the VCR to the CABLE/ANT IN of the TV. Select channel 3 or 4 and should you be able to watch the tap video, then you have just confirmed that it is your cable (or aerial). If on the other hand there is likewise no display on either 3 or 4, then you have just confirmed that somethings needs to be done internally in the tuner section.

Hope this be of some help/idea. Pls post back how things turned out or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.

Snowy picture

Hi,

A snowy video indicates that your input signal is relatively weak. On the other hand, a noisy picture is when there are too much interference is super imposing on the video.

Snowy picture comes about when the signal coming in the RF INput (Ant/Cable) at the back of the unit is below a certain level. If this is the case, then it is not a problem with your TV but rather your aerial (antenna) or the cable from your provider. A way to verify that it is the ant/cable that is the cause and not a defective TV/tuner is to hook up an old VCR set to Ch. 3 or 4 to the RF IN of your TV using a short 75 ohms coaxial cable terminated at both ends with FP-5 connector. Play a known clear good tape and set your TV to Ch. 3 or 4 as the case maybe. If the picture is relatively clearer, better, then you have just confirmed that it is indeed your aerial or your cable (provider) that needs looking into. If on the other hand, the VCR signal is also snowy then chances are that you have a problem with the input stage of your TV including possibly your tuner.

For your aerial problem, antenna orientation or replacing with a higher gain antenna might help solve the snowy signal. For your cable problem, you have to call-in for service from your cable provider. If it is a TV problem, your best course would be to seek the services of a qualified TV technician since this involve electronic circuitry analysis, diagnosis and possible component replacements.

Additionally, you may try looking for any loose connection, loose grounding, broken wire or anything out of the ordinary in your connections.

Hope that this be of some help/idea. Pls post back how things turned out or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.

Help

Good Day, jake1;

This TV is not known for this problem, but when TV has blue screen, it normally means the TV is lacking a signal. Ensure you have that.

Do you get OSD, on screen display? Try different inputs such as DVD. What happens?

Let me know, big IRISH.
