Re: GoGear SA261 - not accessing the mini SD card

The GoGear is only compatible with certain types of SD cards. check the Philips website - product information link on SA261 page for specs on which cards are compatible.

Philips go gear sa3245/97 not starting

You can download content to a Philips GoGear multimedia player using Windows Media Player or MusicMatch Jukebox in Windows. Earlier versions of Windows starting with 2000/ME and XP are compatible with GoGear. If the device is not recognized by the Windows XP operating system or is receiving error messages, you may have older versions of the necessary software installed. There also may be firmware issues with the GoGear device.

Connect the Philips GoGear to another USB port on the computer. Sometimes USB ports go out, especially those in the front of the computer case. Try inserting the GoGear into another port and see if XP can now recognize the device.

Download Service Pack 1 or later for the XP operating system (see Resources). Philips GoGear can only operate on XP systems with at least Service Pack 1 installed. You may also receive an error message pertaining to the service pack when trying to insert the installation disc for the GoGear support software.

Install the latest version of Windows Media Player. Philips GoGear requires at least Windows Media Player 11. Windows Media Player 11 is available for XP .

Install the latest version of MusicMatch Jukebox (see Resources). Earlier version of this software may be causing error messages regarding missing MP3 tag information and missing tracks. Follow the download prompts, then unzip the folder and click on the "HDD_xxx.exe" installation file. The latest version of the software will be installed.

Install the latest firmware on the Philips GoGear. The actual firmware required depends on your GoGear model. Open either Philips Device Manager or Songbird, depending upon which management software you are currently using. Close all programs on the computer except for the Device Manager/Songbird. Connect the GoGear to the power supply and the computer. Click the "Repair" tab in the Device Manager and click "Repair," or click "Tools" in Songbird and select "Check for updated firmware," and the firmware will be updated on the GoGear.

If you don't see the Format option:
    • Double-click on your player in the popup window.
    • Highlight the Internal Storage icon, right-click, and then select Format.
    • Click Yes when you see the warning message.
  4. Click Start to format your player.
  5. When the formatting is finished, copy your music, pictures and video onto your player.

Plilips GoGear wont download music, says its out of date

My friend, I had the same problem. I however never use jukebox but I do have Windows Media Player 11 and I could see the songs being sent to the device. Even when I opened the device files on the pc the music was there. But when unplugging the USB and turning the actual mp3 player on, there was NO music on there. What I did is go on and start researching away. I did rollback to the older version of Media player (10) by simply going to add/remove programs and following Phillips' own instructions. Also I thought it would be a good idea to download the most recent updated info Philips had for this device, like a driver or firmware they call it. Everything worked after that. I had no owners manual also, since I bought this MP3 from my barber at his shop after he got a new IPOD. SO I downloaded the owners manual and all additional info online at their website. Hope this helped. It wasn't easy but you just have to read. Also, it did take a while , good luck............RKALAWALA

Windows media player 10 will not download music to my mp3 player

Media Player 10 should work with this player. If you are using version 11, then it will need rolling back.

Also, connect the player to the PC and wait for it to be recognised as a GoGear, BEFORE opening Media Player, to synch tracks.

Mp3 player

Load the Philips software onto your computer. You have to load the songs onto the player using WMP (Windows Media Player) 8 or 9. Connect the player using the USB cable. Run the Philips Go Gear Digital Audio Player software. Upgrade the firmware. This will format the player and erase everything you have done so far. Start WMP. Click on the Synch tab.It will have 2 window panes. In the right side, at the top, there is a drop list. Select the player from the list. Now create a synch list by clicking on edit playlist. Once you have added the songs, click Start Synch. That's all there is to it. Ian

Player Problem, Connect to PC, Start Device Manager

You need to load the drivers and "gogear" has to appear in your synch list in WMP. Look into previous replies I have posted to find the software link. Copy all the music onto your hard drive so you can put it all back on using the synch feature.
