I cant hear sound for my computer

Assuming you used to hear sounds, you could have one of several problems.
1) Your speakers are turned off (is the little light on the speakers green?)
2) The volume is turned down or muted. Check to be sure you haven't accidentally muted them. You can find this out by clicking the little speaker icon in the system tray and seeing if the mute box is checked or check the sounds icon in the control panel.
3) Something happened to the sound driver. If you are in the Control Panel and click on sounds, you should see the various sound assigned to computer events. If you click the arrow to test play the sound and the little arrow is grayed out, then the sound drivers are missing or corrupt and must be reloaded.
4) Your speakers could be bad.

The green speaker connector has stopped working and can't use powered speakers. The cheap usb speakers work though.

if the sound is onboard I would suggest turning it off and inserting a new sound card in and being a little more careful about jossling the wires connected to it as that is usually the leading problem when such a thing happens

For some reason i get no sound or verry little on my dimension

you may need to roll back your sound driver to before you installed the tversity. also try looking in lower left corner to see if you see little speaker. if so double click the little speaker and see if volume is turned up there.

Scratching (static) noise coming from computer speakers

I foudn this in anther forum:
I have an ASUS motherboard P5E3 Premium. The audio that came with it was the Sound Max audio. I also noticed abnormal sounds coming from the speakers. They included sounds during hard drive activity and also with mouse movement. They were not loud but noticable. I searched all over the web but didn't find the answer. I stumbled across the fix myself. I also have vista-64. In the sound control panel > speaker properties > levels... there is a pc beep slide bar. I noticed that if it is disabled then the abnormal sound went away completely. Problem solved. Hope this helps.

Yes the laptop will stay connected, for the sound problem, check the cable of your speaker and the amplifier of the speaker sounds a leaky capasitor, try a different speaker.

My speakers have stopped working.

Make sure that your sound is not muted. There should be a little speaker icon in the bottom right corner of the screen. If it has a red line through it, it may be muted. Double click it to bring up the properties and unmute it.

If it is not muted, I would suggest reinstalling the sound drivers. The steps to do this will differ based on the model of your computer. For the most part though, you can find this info on e-machines support site.

If that still does not work, I would guess it would be your sound card or onboard sound depending on your machine.

Good luck!
