Shut down when booting

Check for loose or corroded power connections.

First - re-seat the hard disk and reboot the computer. If the computer does not boot up then reboot and go into the BIOS configuration to see if the BIOS detects the hard drive. If it doesn't detect the hard drive then it could be faulty.
Then the hard drive needs to be replaced in the computer/laptop, Windows installed and the computer or laptop's device drivers plus your programs etc. to get a functioning computer/laptop again.

Is there a fault?? All UL listed generators including Kohler are required to lockout on a fault on shut down. This really sounds like a problem with your 2-wire auto start connection between your automatic transfer switch and genset. RDT model automatic transfer switch it is the 2 middle wires on the green connector and terminals 3&4 in the generator. close to run and open to shut down. Any open at any time will cause the unit to shut down. The 12 will shut down instantly upon an open because your 5 minute cool down is built into the transfer switch.

You need to start up in safe mode you do this by pressing F8 while it is booting up you will then see a screen that says start normal or safe mode pick safe mode if it boots up and it will take a little while then shut down the computer by selecting shut down and then restart this will most likley solve your problem

sometimes in side the power supply over time the parts go bad a little at a time. it will work as lone as you leave it on but if you turn in off the switch mode power supply will not restart due to the parts that go bad. replace the power supply and it should be ok. there could be other things but this is the most likely.

blow out dirts on bord, then you pack the board to avoid any bridging with the cassing

check your power options make sure you don't have hibernation enabled, its in the system control panel. try booting from a linux live cd like Ubuntu which you can download for free. If it runs fine under linux, its a windows problem, if it keeps shutting down its a hardware problem. Could be bad ram, or CPU overheating.

Turn the PC on, when it is booting up, keep hitting "F8" until windows boot options come up, choose "Safe Mode" and then once it boots into safe mode fully, go to the start menu and choose shut down. After it shuts down, turn it back on and it should go back into normal mode. From now on, don't use Hibernate, its buggy and has been since XP.

I am finding out that these sets have almost the same problems mostly going back to middle power supply broad ck all connections,then try looking for leaky caps.

what has happened is your hard drive as failed and that is why it shut down and then gave the unmountable boot volume. You could try repairing windows using your XP cd but it's a new hard drive i recon.
