Go into the system list, select the cd/rw drive and uninstall the driver. restart the the pc. the correct usb driver should then automatically be installed.

start, settings, control panel, system, hardware, cdrw, driver details, uninstall.

I have a dell dimension 2200 that has a CD RW . I would like to replace it with a DVD RW or DVD CD RW. Is there going to be a problem with doing that? I have already replaced the CD RW years ago so I know...

You shouldn't have any problems upgrading to a DVD RW or DVD/CD RW as long as you make sure that you have all the drivers needed. The drive will probably have a disc containing all the drivers required, but in case it doesn't, simply visit the manufacturers website and they should have a driver download there :)

Don't forget to rate me if this helps :)

I have 4 usb ports 1.0 I am not able to download

The port in the PC needs to be USB 2.0 standard.

A quick analogy. Think of a tap with 1/2" outlet, and you connect an adapter and a 1" hose to it. It will work, but you will not get more water just because you attached a thicker hose; the original outlet has to have higher diameter to give you more water.

If all your USB ports are 1.0 version, the only option is to purchase an USB 2.0 PCI card mounted inside the computer - this will give you 2 or 4 (depending on card model) USB 2.0 outlets.

Please come back with a rating/testimonial if helped.

Inspron 530S, since power outage all USB ports are

Hope for the best and assume that some files got corrupted at the time of the power failure. So try getting into BIOS, the objective being doing something besides putting in a PCI Card with USB ports or buying another motherboard.

Shut down and/or restart the computer.

When the DELL logo appears, press <F12> immediately.

Now if the computer takes you to the BIOS we are half way there. Key board is working, motherboard is working, and USB port is working.

When the boot device list appears, highlight CD/DVD/CD-RW and press <Enter>.

1. Select the Boot from CD-ROM option from the menu that appears and press <Enter>.

2. Type 1 to start the CD menu and press <Enter> to proceed.

3.Select Run the 32 Bit Dell Diagnostics from the numbered list.

Other wise, save and exit after step 2.

If the above (first 2) steps works, you may want to go forward.

The next part is tricky.

Get hold of a working computer with internet. open google. In the search box type puppy linux. download the latest version. It will be an iso file. Simply burn it to a CD.

Put the CD in it your computer drive (power on. immediately press the eject button of your CD Rom drive . Put the CD in . The computer boots from puppy linux. It may come up with 2 or 3 questions. Just answer yes to the default selections. If the system completes booting, you will see a perfectly usable OS. You can possible check anything you want, if you successful in getting this done.

Need to upgrade video graphics card for HP a305w.

That computer has 3 PCI slots. (I got the specs here: http://www4.dealtime.com/xPF-HP-Compaq-A305W-Intel-Celeron-2-7GHz-256MB-DDR-40GB-HDD-CD-RW-10-100Mbps-LAN-Support-Wind ).

The 6200 is compatible, just make sure it's the PCI version and not PCI-E.

Trying to burn some files to a memorex cd-rw. no computer will recognize that a cd is in the cd drive, even though one is in there. might be a formatting issue, but can't get any software to recognize cd,...

You might want to try the nero lite software. Most of these so called softwares do not reconize some burners. There is a site that tells you these problems. Try to google your (lets say hp cd) and then say EX: hp cd drive (try to use a model)..+not recognizing my burner, don't use spaces in the query.
Nero is a good burning software that enables most burners to be recognized.
If you have had Roxio .. this software is not very friendly to some of the burners out there. If you have this software get rid of it, uless you have the original disk or it come with oem on the restore disc.
PS Use Nero Lite it works the berries!

LITE-ON LTR CD-RW DRIVE AND SAMSUNG SD616 DVD-ROM DRIVE ARE NOT WOORKING. MY SYSTEM DOES NOT RECOGNIZE THEM

were they working previously? remove the case cover and check the flat ribbon cables connecting the cd drives to the motherboard. Make sure the red stripe on the ribbon cable is on pin #1 of the plug. It could be loose on any of the three cable connections and cause that symptom.

Upgrade card

Well, these are the minimum specs for Age of Conan:

OS: Windows Vista/XP
Processor: 3GHz Pentium IV
RAM: 1GB RAM
Video Card: Shader Model 2.0 and 128MB RAM: NVIDIA GeForce 5800 or ATI 9800

These are the specs of your computer (base):

  • Intel Pentium 4 550 (3.4GHz) Processor
  • 1GB PC2-4300 DDR2 Memory
  • Two 74GB WD SerialATA Hard Drives in RAID0 Drive Array
  • 16x DVD+/-R and 48x CD-RW Burner Optical Drives
  • Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS Audio
  • NVIDIA GeForce 6800 Graphics Card with 256MB
Seems to me that you are okay. Would a faster computer be better? Of course. But as you are, the game should play alright. Upgrading to an 8 series Nvidia is worth the change, though.
