Coils aren't glowing red

Most of the new heaters dont glow red. Its a safety thing so it dont catch your sheets or curtains, couch, chair etc on fire. Because of the idiots in this world we cant get a good heater anymore. Thats just the way it is.

I have a Rheem criterion gas furnace that, now that the temps have hit in the low 30s, has decided not to light. It cycles through with the induction fan kicking in just fine, the hsi glows... But it only...

The entire igniter should glow, if it does not the temp to ignite the gas is not met and the burners will never light. When replacing the igniter never touch the element part becuae it will create a hot spot on the igniter and fail.

I have a Gas glow warm heater with 5 plates 25000btus the three center ones are just burning blue with flames and the out side are still turning red. do i need to replace the 3 center ones or how do i fix...

Glow Warm is no longer manufacturer by the original manufacturer. It's not manufactured by FMI.

The burner may be bad and what you're seeing is the blue flames engulfing those 3 ceramic plaques. Or the burner may be clogged with dust, liny and.or pet hair and requires cleaning and servicing.

I have provided a link to the FMI Owners Manual page for your particular type heater, Check out the Trouble Shooting section, as well as how to clean the heater section, It should help you solve your problem.

The center ceramic segment does not glow red like the outside ones, it stays more blue, is there a flame adjustment?

No, no flame adjustment, but that section of the burner, behind the plaque may be clogged. If you don't service your heater at least annually or have it serviced annually, more than likely that's the problem. Also, check the condition of the plaque in question. Depending on the age of the heater, it may simply be cracked or worn out.

If you discover it needs replacement you can order one from FMI (the company that bought part of DESA International after the bankrupted) by calling 868-328-6951, then press 2.. You will need to have the Model # & Serial # of your heater when you call.

One side glows like a champ. The other side, dedicated for High setting, pooffs when I turn it to high, then kind of fickers and barely glows. I have a fuel filter and a six foot hose off of a 20#...

dirt , foriegn material, spider web in gas feed line to the right side ceramic element of mr heater big buddy. take plastic back of heater
off, many #1 philips or smaller screws. find large air induction holes
in gas feed line to right side ceramic element and blow out with compressed air and fine tiped /straw tipped air blow gun.
straw tipped air blow gun is a better tool for this.
reassemble & try lit mr heater again.
If it dont work after air blow gun the gas feed tube, you didnt get the gas feed tube cleaned out ,***** & span (something still in there ) and will need to disassemble the gas feed tube and inspect for foreign material blocking the gas flow.

If this dont work, need to take the gas feed line off the gas valve attached to Mr. heater red knob. red knob just pulls straight out, might need pliers to grab red knob.
check gas valve output for dirt etc that stop gas from getting through. check inside the gas line to the ceramic burner for dirt,
foriegn material- that stop gas from flowing through strong.

any stopage of gas flow , even a slight stopage or dirverting of the gas flow, spider web is common, will stop ceramic element from burning properly.

needs to be clean ,like a carburator.

Pilotlight is not igniting. I have it in the on position but it is not on and hence not igniting the ga. I would like to know what I need to do to get the pilot light to light

From what I just read online your heater uses a hot surface igniter to light the pilot. Turn the heater off. Give it a couple minutes, maybe 10. Then turn it back on. It probably goes through a purge cycle first then tries to light the pilot. You should be able to see the hot surface igniter glowing red somewhere close to the pilot. If not the igniter may be bad. Let me know what you see.

Furnace blower never blows.

it sounds more like the flame sensor ( a metal rod that is by the burners with a wire going to it and it has a ceramic base). you can try cleaning the rod and if that doesnt work they are not to expensive.
