If new, return it to place of purchase for a replacement. if used, the motherboard or internal problems may be the problem such as a bad motherboard, bad internal connection etc.
it may also be that the battery isn't being charged due to a bad adapter or battery. the battery may not be able to take a charge, or the charger may not actually be charging. if you have a spare charger, try it, and the same for the battery.
a green light on the charger doesn't mean it's actually doing anything. nor does it really indicate the battery is good.

I have a hp notebook PC which I bought in 2009. I had it on this evening at a friend's house went home and now it will not turn on. Looked at the battery and electrical cord. What's up?

Remove the battery and adapter.
Press and hold the power button for 20 sec.
Then connect the adapter and try to turn it on.
If that works, shutdown the computer and put the battery back in and try once more.
If it does not start with the adapter, check whether the adapter is good.
If adapter is good, it is an issue with the laptop.

Disconnect the ac adapter and take out the battery. Next press the power button and hold it for 20 seconds. Then, connect the ac adapter and attempt to turn it on.

If it turns on, reinstall your battery and try again. If it does not turn when you reinstall the battery then it's your battery.

If it does not turn on without the battery, then it's either your ac adapter or your dc jack. You can check the ac adapter at a local pc shop or electronics store. If it's the dc jack then you have the option of ordering it on-line and replacing it yourself or have someone else do it. Good luck and let me know how it went.

Do you see anything on the screen?

Try the following things:
  1. Try starting the computer with only the battery
  2. Remove the battery and try booting with only the power adapter
  3. Try removing and replacing your memory
Could be a bad power supply or bad battery. After you try the above steps, report your results.

One thing you might try is to unplug it from the adapter and remove the battery. Let it sit a few minutes and replace the battery and try to start it again.
If that doesn't work, then plug it in and try it again.
If it still won't power up, you are probably looking at a motherboard that has gone bad. If it is still in warranty, then the company should fix it.

Compaq nx6320 won't power up

Replace your battery Some laptops don't boot up when no battery is present even it is connected directly on the power supply. Or if not to visit your nearest HP service center. If its still with warranty, use it.

Good luck kabayan. ^_~

I would suggest going with XP Pro first off but what you need to do is get into your bios and change the boot priority to the cdrive as the first device then harddrive as second. Put your XP disc in and reboot the computer after a few moments you should see press any key to install ...... this will start you off with the install from here on follow onscreen instructions.

Onsce at windows desktop you will need to get a ton of drivers and this is were the fun comes in. Use support.intel.com for all intel devices inside the system. After that you will have to goto your device manager and see what still needs to be installed. Now you will have to hunt down the manufacures websites and go to there support page and get needed drivers.

Acer aspire 4920 charging mechanism failed

Most laptops, as in 99%, have one board and everything is on it. They don't really have a power supply since the AC adpater provides DC voltage already. There is just a voltage divider that take the incomming voltage and changes it to the various voltages the machine needs. The charging mechanism is also on the mainboard. I've very seldom seen a seperate power or charging board in a laptop. Unfortunately since you've already replaced the battery and the ac adapter and since the adapter is powering the laptop then there is definitely a problem with the charging circuitry on the mainboard. This isn't something one can repair unless you start changing micro components and ICs on the board which isn't recommended. Looks like a new mainboard or a new laptop is in your future if you want it to run off battery.

Another option is to get an external battery that mimics your ac adapter but that wouldn't give you a very long run time compared to the internal battery.

Don't forget to rate my solution in your premium thread as FixYa if you think I helped solve your problem. Thanks.

Acer aspire 4920g charging mechanism failed

Have you tested the adapter to see if there is any power getting to your notebook period. Use a multimeter to check for DV voltage. If you can't get your multimeter probe into the middle of the plug then I use a paper click to get in there. If your adapter is not supplying any voltage then there is a problem with it. I get a replacement adapter for my wife's Acer on eBay for about $30. Just search eBay for 4920g and you should get quite a few hits for the ac adapter or power cord.

If the adapter is providing power then the motherboard in your notebook is faulty since you've already replaced the battery. A replacement motherboard might be available from eBay. Replacing the motherboard could be complicated depending on your experience so I would leave that up to a notebook technician. An Acer certified shop may also be able to sell you a replacement motherboard.

I don't think it's the motherboard, my money is on the adapter. Test it out or have it tested.

I have acer 5315 aspire laptop,i have bought ram for it,want to know how to install

Follow these steps to install memory:
1 Turn off the computer, unplug the AC adapter (if connected) and remove
the battery pack. Then turn the computer over to access its base.
2 Remove the screws from the memory cover; then lift up and remove the
memory cover. Looks like this:

2 (a) remove the current memory by spreading the clips in either side of the stick, and gently pull it out (carefull with the clips, as they can easily break)
3 (a) Insert the memory module diagonally into the slot, then (b) gently press
it down until it clicks into place.
4 Replace the memory cover and secure it with the screw.
5 Reinstall the battery pack, and reconnect the AC adapter.
6 Turn on the computer.

The computer automatically detects and reconfigures the total memory size
