The on/off switch may be bad and needs replacement. but there are also numerous other reasons it won't turn on. motherboard is fried, connections are bad, hdd bad, connections inside are loose etc. you may need to have someone open it to check for internal problems.

My computer was not connected to power and the battery ran down and now I cannot turn the computer on, even when plugged in.

take out the battery and disconnect the charger. press and hold the power button for 10 secs. Connect only the charger making sure its power indicator is lit up, then try to turn on the computer. If same thing happens, try a spare charger and if this does not work, it would sound like a motherboard problem. hope this helps you move to the right direction

I got my Acer laptop about a week ago. It's been plugged in all day, closed. The power light is on and the battery light indicates it's fully charged, but the screen is black and the computer is totally...

I would try unplugging the laptop, remove the battery for a few seconds and then put back and then try to turn on. See what happens and go from there.

Hello. I want to ask. I have a Acer Aspire 9300 and I have a problem with it. When I try to turn it on it only ignites the green light and the computer does nothing and does not make any sound. What could...

First, make sure it is fully charged and plugged in.
Look at the power indicator:
If it is not lit, no power is being supplied to the computer. Check the
If you are using on the battery, it may be low and unable to power
the computer. Connect the AC adapter to recharge the battery pack.
Make sure that the AC adapter is properly plugged into the computer
and to the power outlet.
If it is lit, check the following:
Is a non-bootable (non-system) disk in the external USB floppy drive?
Remove or replace it with a system disk and press <Ctrl> + <Alt> +
<Del> to restart the system.
Nothing appears on the screen.
The computer's power management system automatically blanks the screen to
save power. Press any key to turn the display back on.
If pressing a key does not turn the display back on, three things might be
the cause:
The brightness level might be too low. Press <Fn> + <→> (increase) to
adjust the brightness level.
The display device might be set to an external monitor. Press the display
toggle hotkey <Fn> + <F5> to toggle the display back to the computer.
If the Sleep indicator is lit, the computer is in Sleep mode. Press and release
the power button to resume.

Does not power up.

Remove the battery and try to turn on the laptop without the cord plugged in to allow the device to completely discharge. Put the battery back in and hold the power button in for 45 seconds, the lights should flash and then turn the laptop on normally.

This always works for my laptop.

First follow procedure to try to reset the power.
  1. Unplug the ac adapter. Keep ac adapter unplugged.
  2. Remove the battery and keep the battery unplugged.
  3. Hold the power button down for 15-20 seconds. (Nothing will appear on the display and none of the lights will light up.)
  4. Release the power button and plug in the ac adapter ONLY. (Please note that a power indicator light should be lit on the ac adapter when it is plugged in).
  5. Normally power on the notebook.
  6. If the unit does not power on, remove the ac adapter and insert the battery into the system.
  7. Plug the ac adapter back into the system, the battery charging indicator light will light up.
If the battery charging indicator light does not light up, the ac adapter may not be providing proper power to the unit, and may need to be replaced.
