When you first start up your computer or reinstall the software and restart, the computer asks you to disable the built in recording software to be able to use the Toshiba Disc Utility in full.
The recommended option is to just use the Toshiba Disc Creator utility itself. I use it and it is really easy to use.
It is located at Start->All Programs->TOSHIBA->CD&DVD Applications->Disc Creator.

That is the best option

Start in safe mode by pressing F8 repeatedly while starting the system and go to device manager and uninstall the driver..there should be a yellow exclamation mark next to it..hope it helps!

DVDs do not need any driver to work, you need to have the dvd drive fixed or replaced.

Try first insterting a bootable disk, like your laptop recovery disk, or a windows install disk, then restart the computer so that it will read the disk before starting from hard disk.

If the laptop successfully read from recovery CD and start booting, then it is a system problem, in this case reinstall the system from recovery CD after saving all your software and files.

If the laptop does not boot from CD, the unit is faulty, replace the DVD RW.

Hi EMBO,

Looks like it is the old Upper/lower filters entries in the registry.
Be real careful working the registry. Make real sure you export the registry, and create a restore point first. Here are the steps to fix it,
