I would see if there is an updated driver for your video card; check the driver version and date on the Acer Support Website. And there is a possible glitch in the game and there might be a update for it as well. Here are a few patches I found for the Sims 2 game...

I tried to play a game on my computer and after i installed it and started to get ready to play it the screen turns blue, white and a band of rainbows come on the screen but the sound is working too??? not...

Most likely you do not have a video card that supports the game you are trying to play or an older game that may have been created for an earlier OS than 7.

You might try running the game in compatibility mode.

1) From start menu Click "Control panel"
2) Click "Programs"
3) Under programs and features click "Run programs for earlier versions of windows"
4) Choose your program and follow prompts.
5)Run in compatibility mode window will open choose "next"
6)Follow Prompts

Hope this helps you.

Hi,
Ok best thing to try, which will quickly solve your problem would be to go here

http://www.systemrequirementslab.com/referrer/srl

Then Click where it says : "Find out if you can run
that game on your PC"

Look in the drop down list and select The Sims 2 Double Deluxe PC game. Then Click on the "Can You Run it" Button.

It wiil then Scan your System & Build a detailed profile of Hardware & Software installed, and will inform you of what software or hardware is/is not compatable with the game you want to play.

I have a Pentium 4 3ghz Processor, 1GB Ram, Direct X 9.0c, Win XP SP3 installed & after running a test to see if my Machine would handle The Sims 2 Double Deluxe, it passed on all areas except Video Card. & This is what it informed me :

Video Card

I have a acer aspire 5715z laptop i keep going to play sims game but it freezes , am i not able to play games on this laptop?

Look at the specs needed on the side of the Sims box. You may need more memory or a better video board. Also, many games , for unknown reasons, require 256 resolution.

Is this some kind of problem for you? Vista is fierce serious! Perhaps it does something more disruptive than playing, though?
