No, but you want to make sure the RAM upgrade you get is compatible with your Notebook. The Acer Aspire 3610 uses PC24200 NONECC Unbuffered 200 pin DDR2 SODIMM RAM modules. It's pretty easy to do, just remove the access panel at the bottom of your laptop, remove the old modules by releasing the clips, pop-in the two new 1 GB modules, and then boot up the system.

You will have to fill both slots to increase RAM
please look at this link:
http://www.crucial.com/store/listparts.aspx?model=Aspire%203610%20Series
this is at http://www.crucial.com/
you can use their online memory scanner or the drop down menus, that shall tell you all the details for your system..
please do remember that adding more memory may void your memory..installing is quite simple and its always suggested to back up important data before making hardware changes though adding memory is quite a routine thing..
hope it helps!regards!

This is a fairly straightforward procedure. There is no need to backup anything on your system, although it is good to always keep a backup. I do suggest you keep a backup, but I've upgraded many computers without having to. At least backup your most important documents onto a USB key or an external hard-drive.

Since you are upgrading your RAM and not your hard-drive, you're only upgrading the memory that is used while the computer is on.

I have a vgn-b3vp (pcg-5b1m) sony laptop, can i upgrade the memory if it has 512 of none-removable memory and only 1 bank.

Yes, you can use the 1 bank and get higher graded memory, another 512 in the 1 bank would make 1gig, you can probable get as much as 2 gig in the bank to make a total of 2.5 gigs by buying a 2 gig memory stick.

Is 1 gig of ram enough memory to support vista to run?

Hey there you want to use vista?? lol good luck. You need a min of 2 gigs ram to run vista but should ideally have 4 gigs for good operation. vista is a memory hog. You can change the configuration to use less but still need at least 2 gigs

To upgrade my Asus Eeepc 4G

The only way you can add space is for you to use an external HDD because an Eee PC has a built-in hard drive that cannot be upgraded.

The problem must be the amount of total memory. Maybe the board supports only 1 gig. Chek the manual.

Upgrading acer laptop RAM

Hi,
You Can Actually Upgrade This To 2 Gig Memory.
Each Slot Will Take 1 A Gig Strip.
I,d suggest Buying another 256 mb Strip, To Put Into Slot 2.
Or Buy a 512mb ( Half Gig ) Which Will Give you 750mb With your Existing Strip Already In There. ** Recommend 1 Gigabyte Max** 2 gig of Ram in This Baby Would Probably Start Glowing.
You Can Buy DDR/266/333 In 256/512/1 Gig Strips. These Are Commonly Known As SD-RAM-Modules.

Memory/Graphic problem

This might have something to do with DVMT or Digital Video Memory Technology. Basically, the amount of video memory is dependent on the amount of memory installed. I'm not very familiar with acer system BIOS but try to look for VIDEO under system BIOS and try to select any fixed video memory if possible. you can also try to disable DVMT.
