Question about Maytag Neptune MAH6700A Front Load Washer

1 Answer

Walking washer No matter how I separate my laundry, my washer continues to "walk" across the laundry room. I had a repairman look at it, he rebalanced it and told me how to properly separate the loads. The service call should have been covered by warranty, but I found out when I received the bill that it wasn't. I very reluctantly paid the bill, because the washer didn't make it through one complete cycle before continuing it's "walk". We have tried the washer both on and off the pedestal, same results. The machine is supposed to be quiet and mine is so loud! It shakes the entire house. I was told that because I don't have concrete floors, it will continue with this problem. How ridiculous is that answer?

In my experience (20 years) machines behaving in this manner invariably have either drum or suspension problems. Here in the UK this would certainly be covered by warranty.

Hope this helps &thanks for using Fixya

Stacking washer and dryer still vibrating and walking during spin cycle even though stacking kit is attached

Assuming that you've installed the stack kit according to instructions, you should check the following:
1. The dryer should be securely attached to the washer and not wiggle or move. The washer must always go on the bottom of the stack.
2. Washer should be level and have all four level legs making solid contact with the floor, no wobbling.
3. Make sure the drain hose is not pinched or restricted (or there is not debris in the drain pump) as a slow pump out will accentuate vibration problems.
4. Make certain you've removed all of the washer packing bolts before using the machine (see owners manual for description.)
5. The floor must be solid with no "springy" or "spongy" feel. No matter what you do to the laundry set it will vibrate on a less than solid floor. This occurs on upstairs installations or other wooden floors, especially in an older home. Sometime the floor can be braced to stiffen it. Also, vibration pads are sold that might help minimize the vibration. The walking is a symptom of vibration.

Experience shows that most problems of this sort result from incorrect installation and/or flooring issues, not the laundry. You should not attach it to the wall. It is possible the washer has a problem in which case a technician would need to check the unit. They can check the suspension and drive system for proper operation.

My LGfront end loader washing machine is shaking so bad it actually walks across the laundry room 3 -4 feet

I had the same problem when my LG WD-8074FHB was new. LG recalled them and put a larger weight in them. The weight is a hollow piece of plastic filled with concrete in the top of the machine under the cover. It stopped it moving around the laundry.

Washer goes off balance so easily, no matter the size of the load, from towels to shirts. We checked the washing machine itself is level. It's so frustrating to have a small to medium load cause the basket...

The tub is out of alignment. The suspension springs are weak and must be tight, the tub must not shake,if so the dampers are faulty.
This suspension must be so rigid that it must not shake around freely . check the pulley arangement , the bearings at the bottom spindle, if out of balance. If there is any anomalies in this ddrive section it must be observed and checked.
A careful analysis is most important to having a first hand information.

Why does my front loading washer turn sideways on spin cycle

i would check to make sure the levelling legs are down properly, AND LOCKED!! Once leveled, there is a nut that is cranked up to the case to prevent them from moving up and walking around the laundry room.

My GE frontload washer "jumps around" the room.

Plug off the mains. Open up the machine to look for defective shock-absorbers, broken springs, etc. You shd have done this much earlier, surely you're not walking around the house with a helmet.
