I forgot my username and password

Every router I have ever seen allows you to reset the configuration to factory default - but not allow you to retrieve a forgotten password and maintain your settings at the same time. This is often referred to a "factory" or "hard" reset.

When you initiate a factory / hard reset, typically by pressing & holding a button on the router - or behind an opening in the router case - all the changes you've made to it will be returned to the factory default. Wifi becomes "open" with no password (on most devices), the login username / password also go back to default settings (common ones are: admin / admin, admin / password, <blank> / admin, <blank / password, etc.). Consult your router's set up guide or online documentation to learn what the factory / hard reset procedure and the default settings.

Once you gain access to the setup pages of the router, configure it as best as you can remember, and lock it down with good security settings. At minimum - this should include changing the router's username / password, the WiFi's SSID and do not broadcast it, add WPA or WPA2 encryption and secure it with a security key (use a mix of numbers, letters, symbols etc.).

I suggest recording the settings on paper and then tape it to the bottom of the router. There it will remain out of sight - but ready when you need it.

Good luck!

Solution for War Craft 3 behind Linksys routers.........

As the application requires certain ports to be opened on the router,try to follow the steps below to configure the router. Since you are connecting behind the router, you are going behind a NAT firewall.Therefore, you would need to allow ports for the remote access application to go through the firewall. You would need to know what port number application uses. You can check with the program manufacturer for the information, or see the Help menu.

For routers with old firmware versions (without the Cisco web interface):

1.Open Internet Explorer.
2.After "Internet Explorer" opens, please typehttp://192.168.1.1 into the "Address Bar" and click GO.
3.The "Enter Network Password" window will appear. Skip username and type admin (admin is the default password) as the password,and click OK.
4.You will need to click on the Advanced tab to the very right. Once the "Filters" area appears, please click on the Forwarding tab.
5.Once the "Forwarding" area appears, click the Port Triggering button. Once you've done this, a new window will appear.Enter the ports needed to be opened > Click Apply

For later firmware (that has the Cisco web interface)

1.Open Internet Explorer.
2.After "Internet Explorer" opens, please typehttp://192.168.1.1 into the "Address Bar" and click GO.
3.The "Enter Network Password" window will appear. Skip username and type admin (admin is the default password) as the password,and click OK.
4.Click on "Applications and Gaming" then click on the "Port Triggering" Sub tab. Enter the ports needed to be opened >Click Save Settings.

Example:

Customized Trigger Port Range Incoming Port Range
Application From ~ To From ~To
WARCRAFT 6112-6112 6112-6112
WARCRAFT 6113-6119 6113-6119

Hope this help everyone that has problem with the game.

Need to unlock to use different network

If you're referring to "resetting" your wireless router, you only need to press a hidden button at the back of the router. Find a small hole at the back and press it using a thin object like toothpick or a wire. Press it for at least 15 seconds. After doing that, connect one PC to the router using LAN wire and log-in to the router's default address. Since you did not mention what modem you have, here are the options;
192.168.0.1 192.168.1.1 Use default Username and Passwords to set up new Wireless Protocol. Here are possible options;
UN: admin PW: admin
UN: admin PW:
UN: admin PW: password
UN: admin PW: 1234
From here, if you can log-in to Router's IP, look for the Wireless configuration options. It will allow you to set Network Keys and other security options.
