is it possible to connect my blackjack 617i to at&t wireless (wi fi) with out paying for there data connection on the cell phone we already pay for the internet on the U-verse it comes with free Wi fi

Try a new partnership with your pc and and use active syn to update your phone.

Under connections you'll find wi-fi in theresomewhere and choose it as default connection and you should be good to go.
