Same problem here. Paper feeding starts out ok, but just when the paper has turned around and is on it's way out from the printer there's just a triangular tip pointing out and paper jam error.

I've tried lots of times w. different amounts of paper, quality a.s.o but to no avail...

Will try looking for obstruction though and will report eventual success.

The paper is jammed and I can"t pull the paper out. Is there a way to open the copier beyond lifting the top part up?

There must be on obstruction in the paper path, either there is a piece of paper or caked or hardened ink along its way, the indicator that it pulls from the other side suggest that it is touching somethng try t open it up again and see, and see the paper guide matches the size of your paper say letter size in this way the feeding will not be crooked
cheers

1. Turn the printer off and open the access cover.
2. Look for any obstructions in the paper path and remove them if necessary. (It is possible to move the carrier assembly with the power off.)
3. Turn the printer on, load some paper, and press the Form Feed button.
4. Watch the paper as it feeds through and try to determine where the jam is occurring.
5. Check to see if all the rollers are turning.

If all the rollers are turning, there may be something in the feed path that you can't see. Go to step 6.
If not, there is probably a feed motor or a gear problem and the printer may require service.
6. If the paper is jamming under the carrier assembly, you may be able to fix it using the manual feed slot.
7. Turn the printer off.
8. Take a #10 envelope and feed it through the left side of the manual feed slot until it comes right through the printer to the back of the exit rollers.
9. Move it up and down first, and then slowly move it over to the right side. If something is stuck under the black guide plate, this may work it loose.

As the paper starts to feed through, it jams on the left side, as if the left side roller is feeding the paper in faster than the right side

Take a soft cloth (not paper towel) moistened with alcohol and clean off the rollers that pickup the paper. Make sure you clean the entire roller. Chances are that there is paper dust on one or more rollers and they're slipping, causing the jam.

False paper jams and multi sheet feeds

multi feeds and jams are mostly caused by static electricity in the paper. ALWAYS fan paper top and bottom to remove static and "aerate" the paper before putting in prnter. Doing that will reduce the problems you are experiencing.

HP Photosmart C6280 Will not feed paper correctly

Please onsult this HP support article and follow the steps outlined there to clean the rollers, etc. Frequently this roller cleaning and possibly a reset is all that's required to clear the jam error. (If you have access to compressed air, you can gently blow air throught the printer to clear out paper dust and debris from inside.
Also be sure to follow the instructions in the manual or here to load the paper correctly, fan sheets before loading, and if the problem continues, try flipping the stack of loaded paper upside down and reloading, or try another kind of paper..

I hope this information allows you to resolve this issue. If you need further assistance, please post back with a comment to this thread.
If I've managed to answer your question or solve a problem, please take just a moment to rate this post....thanks!

Jamming paper

Normal 0 I suggest you get a sheet of Card Stock (Heavy paper) and place it in the feed way. Then press the print button applying a slight amount of pressure on the Card Stock so it will feed through the printer. The reason for this is in some cases I have been able to clear the paper track of debris that was deposited there over time.
Worth a try, as I have fixed a number of printers this way, saving costly repairs.
Hope this helps. Bud

HP 1020 Issue

Maybe if you hold down the cycle button and let it run through a "test cycle" to receive a printer data sheet it might clear the internal buffer or whatever you call that short term memory these printers have. Let us know. JP
