Pilot light keep going out will sometime stay on 3 hours then go

I have a continuous problem with my Coleman Evcon 7900 series.
The pilot light will light fine and the unit will work for a while then the
light goes out. A professional technician have replaced parts and cleaned out the pilot light debris. It worked fine for 8 hours and the pilot light went out again. The technician return and the same problem still
exist. What can be causing my pilot light to go out?

The thermocoupler and flame sensor was replaced. Also, the pilot and oriface

was cleaned. The heater pilot light stills goes out. I attempted to light the pilot and

the flame went back out. I waited 5 minutes to relight the pilot and soon I entered

pilot door with the match the flame busted out the door. I was very fortunate I was

burnt on just my hand. I will call another technician in the morning.

Accurate Joe what appear to be the problem with this pilot light.

Pilot light only stayed for 3 hours after it was lighted. New sensor has been installed, but it didn't fix the problem.

Great, if you are not skilled in working on this type of appliance the best thing you can do is to call a professional out. Be careful in picking a service company, there are a lot of dishonest people out there. Try to get a reference from somebody in the construction trade that you trust.

Coleman evcon furnace

Did you clean the pilot orfice?? It has a very small opening about the size of a hair. You may have to use a needle to open the opening....Are you getting gas to the pilot orfice assembly from the Gas Valve when you set it to Pilot?? If not then check the pilot adjustment screw on top of the gas valve at the pilot tube. CW decreases flow.

For sensor if you mean thermocouple that sits in the pilot light I say this is usually the problem. The thermocouple needs to heat up to a preset temp before it will allow the gas to remain on. Does the pilot light stay on? If so make sure you turn the gas knob to on from pilot/light

I have a few issues with an old probably dinosaur Coleman Presidential III 7995a-856 Heating unit. I've had 3 different repairmen look at it and they're clueless. The main pilot will light and stay lit...

if the pilot is clean and and strong then this should play on to the thermocouple , i take it you have changed the thermocouple , and the connection is good at the gas valve , then if this going out could be 1, powerunit on gas valve not holding at thermocouple connection

2. Hole in heatexchanger blowing out pilot when blower comes on

I take it the pilot stays on untill fan comes on and keeps going out , I would think about not putting any more money in to this and get new if sounds as the heater has had its day ,

You may have a dirty/rusty burner that is clogged or your gas valve
manifold pressure setting may be too low. Normal manifold pressure
is 3.5 inches water column on natural gas furnaces. ( 1 psig is equivalent to 28 inches water column). Pull and clean burner. Also
check and clean pilot assy. including flame sensor (if present).
Please let me know.

I have a coleman evcon and the gas keeps shutting off

The click noise you hear is the magnet inside the valve dropping out. Which means, the voltage that energizes it is low or interupted. Possible, weak pilot flame, bad thermocouple or bad secondary limit switch. This limit switch is located left of the main control. made of ceramic. It can also be a bad gas valve...

Coleman furnace fan keeps turning off and on every 10 seconds...

clean your heat/flame sensor with sand paper or steal wool. If the sensor is dirty, it won't detect the heat from the flame and it shuts the gas off. Clean the soot and junk off the sensor and it should work fine. I have to clean mine every year. After spending hundreds of $$ every yr on tech calls..I figured out the problem and in 30 sec I'm up and running again.
