Hi there,

Yes i do agree with you there is no problem with a graphic card, and i suspected it to be a problem with the cable which is used for connecting but it was fine when you swapped the monitors however i would still suspect on the slot where the cable is connected, may be you should try samsung service center before you decide.

Post back for more solutions we will be happy to help you.
Hope this helps.
Cheers!!!!

My monitor was going zigzaging in different lines with my color back ground going with the linesand then went each time it came on then had to restart it to make screen go back to normal then went all...

When you first power on the computer does the monitor work fine?
can you boot into safe mode? - Click Here for step by step to boot into safe mode.
If the Monitor works in Safe mode or works when you first power on the computer then it could most likely be an issue with your Video Card.
Try testing the Monitor on the laptop to see if it gives you the same issue. If it doesn't then you know for sure it the Desktop. I would most likely say its the video card.
If it turns out to be the Desktop, post the model of the PC and I can help see what other options you have.

Turned it on a minute later went black

Good day sir/ma'am hi, if you monitor turns black, here are the more common probable reasons;
  1. Your PC went to standby the screen saver kicks in, just reset your PC then the monitor will power on again.
  2. If not, your PC is not giving you video signal, check to see if another monitor will work, we then know what part is bad, the monitor or the PC.
  3. If the monitor is the culprit, then your monitor's back light or inverter board just went bad. you need to replace it.
There are usually two main circuit board on your monitor, the power supply board and the main board, at this point, you need a professional to do the work.
The process is opening the monitor and locate the LCD screen connection to the main board, to check if the contact is snug. we then test. if still nothing happens, Then we go to the power supply board, to check for connection problem, It would help if there are light signs, like blinking, orange, red, green and the likes? Anyway, if the power supply board is not the faulty one, we substitute the main board with a good one and test to see if it will work, test again. If still no respond, we test a new LCD unit, then test, at this point the monitor is working already, if not, we then replace the power supply board. Huh, very expensive, we already have a new monitor. Reminders, these are to be done by a trained personnel. If you attempt to service this, its expensive, so I suggest you let the service shop do this for you to replace only the faulty part.

just try running the Test on the monitor(monitor self test) ie disconnecting the video cable of the monitor & leaving the power cable connected & then see if u r getting the red, blue, green multicoloured bard moving on the screen or not,if yes then the monitor is fine otherwise the monitor is bad.

Monitor not working

It may well be dead. Try testing the monitor on another working PC. Also try a working monitor on the problem PC. Then you will know whether it's the monitor or the PC graphics card that's faulty.

Video problem on my Dell Dimension 4600 PC, HELP ASAP.

the resolution set by default when you load your graphics driver is outside the range of your monitors capability.

try starting in safe mode then adjust your resolution to 640 by 480 then restart.
if this works, adjust upwards to 1024 by 768
then up again till the screen blanks.
when it does, dont panic, wait 20 seconds and the settings will restore - you then have the optimum settings for your monitor.

good luck
