Question about Eurocom PHANTOM D900T Notebook
Hi i have a d900t i purchased in 2005 from ajp it has already had the motherboard replaced once under warranty but now out of warranty it shuts down after 10 minutes i returned it for inspection and was advised there was a chip on the mother board that was causing the fans not to work maybe? he showed me in the long rear cover there are what look like brass cooling rods and these are attatched to the circuit board this is where the malfuntioning chip is supposed to sit he showed me other broken motherboards that had deterioated further and were scorched.as this has happened again and a friend who has the same model also, had to right off his computer as the price of repair quoted £300.00 for a new board plus labour was too high. is this a common problem with this machine and is their a reasonably priced way to repair this or have i been misinformed totally? sorry for my lack of specific knowledge on this machine as i was only with the repairman for 10 minutes, these machines are not cheap as you know i invested in this model expecting the nuts for my job of digital retouching i am freelance but have not had work for 2 months so any cheap fixes if any exist would be really helpful as i not only work from this machine at times but use it to display my portfolio.thank you tony
This model motherboard is notorious for heat issues as stated before raise on cooling pad BUT to me it sounds more like they did not use AC5 Arctic Silver correctly on the CPU heat sink....you might want to check it out and also check the video card heat sink too. Also make sure you get the latest Bios update that enables the fans to run full speed all the time using Fn+F2. And also always check all the fan covers and clean excess dust from the fan grills
