Not supported by who or what?

    Other hardware?

    Windows Operating System (or other)?

You getting an error about "Unsigned Drivers" from Windows when trying to install? - If that's the case, you gotta install 'em anyway, if you want your product to work. Don't worry about that error - it just means that the company isn't paying Microsoft to re-write their drivers and then call them their own - lol

Windows features a "Compatability" option (since the release of XP). If you right-click the driver file, select "properties", and then "Compatibility" tab, you will see the options available.

Wireless capability tuned off

Try re-installing the wireless driver.
You can download the wireless and device drivers from Dell WEB site, the support download page. Make sure you select your model desktop or laptop, better still, type in the Service Tag number, it is printed on the label on the bottom of the laptop and on the back or sides of a desktop. (If the Service Tag label is missing then go into the BIOS setting and on one of the BIOS pages, the Service Tag number will be displayed). This will open the page where the specific drivers for your model computer are located. Also make sure you select the Windows of the drivers for your Windows operating system. Click on this link to download the drivers: - http://support.dell.com/support/downloads/index.aspx?c=us&l=en&s=gen

Just bought acer Z5700 but i have to plug the cable into the router. i thought this product was wi fi what am i doing wrong ?

You probably never enabled the wireless card ..Go to network folder and start the wireless connection ..In there select to connect wireless and teh card will enable the wireless and will show available networks after ..
Also check in the device manager to see if the wireless card is proper installed ..if it is not ..just download and install the drivers from support site ..or install them from the recovery partition or from the disk if you have one .
to get into device manager .click right on computer icon ..select properties than device manager ..In there look for wifi card ..click right on it and select enable ..If it is in yellow it means it has no driver ..and try to click right on it and select update driver ..
Also see that it may have a button for the wireless to be enabled on it ..Im not sure but it may be something similar to laptops..just a button needed to be pressed in order to enable the wireless card without any other intervention ..If the card is enabled it will appear in the tray from task bar (right area ) where all active programs appear ..Right click on it ...and select to show networks ..and select yours and connect ..

Wireless zero configuration is the feature of Windows XP that allows Windows to detect the available wireless networks and automatically connect to the most preferred wireless network.

It is enabled by the Wireless Zero Configuration service in Windows XP. It provides auto wireless network detection when you switch on the computer.
Follow the steps below to verify that the service is running:
1. Go to Start and right click My Computer. Select and click Manage.
2. Computer Management window will appear. Under Services and Applications, select Services.
3. Check for the service Wireless Zero Configuration. Make sure that it is started and that the startup type is set to automatic.
computer-management.jpg4. If it isn't, double-click the service. If the startup type is not set to automatic, click on the dropdown arrow and and change it to automatic. Click OK at last.
autostart-wireless-zero.jpgIf your wireless adapter driver does not support wireless auto onfiguration, you will notice the following:
- The network adapter does not appear as a wireless network adapter in Network Connections. It appears as a LAN adapter, similar to an Ethernet connection.
- The properties of the wireless connection do not have a Wireless Networks tab.
- You do not receive a Windows XP notification bar message indicating that wireless networks are available.
To get the most out of your Windows XP wireless experience, you should contact wireless adapter manufacturer to obtain the latest version of the drivers that support this XP feature.
If not, you must manually configure wireless network settings using the configuration software supplied with the wireless network adapter.

Im trying to make my laptop wireless using westell 7500 router

Hi,

Most computers connect to a WiFi network automatically. Please make sure the wireless in your computer is turned on. There should be a button with an indicator light near your keyboard, just switch it on.

Alternatively open your start menu and find "network" or "internet connections". There should be an option for wireless that you can select. Wireless connections will be scanned and you will need to select from a list of options to connect to. Once you click it you will be connected to your home WiFi Network.

If your network has a password your will need to enter the Network Name (Called SSID) and the Password in the Wireless Connection Wizard.

If this doesn't work for you, please comment and let me know, and I will be happy to assist you to further resolve your issue.

I will appreciate your feedback and positive rating for this solution.
Thank you.

I am trying to set up xbox live for my son but when i try to go live on the xbox dashboard it says that wireless network not connected but i have a wireless network running in my house and need to know how...

  1. Connect the appropriate wireless network adapter to the console. On the Xbox, a Wi-Fi adapter that connects to the Ethernet port (sometimes also called a wireless network bridge) must be used. Alternatively, the Xbox 360 is also designed to work with certain Wi-Fi game adapters that connect to a USB port.

  2. Turn on the console and navigate to the wireless settings screen. On the Xbox, the menu path is "Settings -> Network Settings -> Advanced -> Wireless -> Settings" On the Xbox 360, the menu path is "System -> Network Settings -> Edit Settings."

  3. Set the SSID (network name) on the Xbox to match that of the wireless router. If your wireless router has enabled SSID broadcast, the SSID name should appear pre-selected on the Xbox display. Otherwise, select the "Specify Unlisted Network" option and enter the SSID there.

  4. Specify "Infrastructure" as the Network Mode. (Infrastructure is the mode used by wireless routers.)

  5. Set the Security Type to match that of the wireless router. If your router uses WPA encryption and the type of adapter connected to the Xbox does not support WPA, you will need to change your router settings to use WEP encryption instead. Note that the standard Microsoft Xbox 360 Wireless Network Adapter supports WPA while the standard Microsoft Xbox Wireless Adapter (MN-740) only supports WEP.
  6. Save your settings and verify the network is functional.

On the Xbox, the Wireless Status screen displays whether a connection has successfully been made with the wireless router, and the Connect Status screen displays whether a connection has successfully been made through the Internet to Xbox Live.

On the Xbox 360, use the "Test Xbox Live Connection" option instead.
Tips:
  1. Even when your wireless connection between the Xbox and the router is working perfectly, you may still experience difficulty connecting to Xbox Live. These issues can be caused by the quality of your Internet connection or the firewall and Network Address Translation (NAT) settings of your wireless router. Additional troubleshooting may be required in these areas to achieve reliable Xbox Live connections.
What You Need:
  • Active Xbox Live subscription (to access services)

I have a non-wireless cable modem hooked up to my Macbook Pro laptop. I found my old linksys wireless router (model # WRT54G version6.0) and would like to hook it up to have wireless in my apartment. I do...

If you're in the US, go to this page and download the EasyLink Connect software.

http://www.linksys.com/servlet/Satellite?c=L_CASupport_C1&childpagename=US%2FLayout&cid=1166859678292&pagename=Linksys%2FCommon%2FVisitorWrapper&lid=7829277881B04

Do the firmware upgrade as well, on the same page.

Outside of the US, start at http://support.linksys.com and select your country, then choose Technical Support.

It's important to use software meant for your country.

It does support a internal wireless mini pci card, however access is probably under the keyboard.

to see if 1 is installed, goto start, right click on my computer, left click on properties.

In Vista select device manager from left column,

XP left click on hardware, device manager.

click on the + by network adapters and see if it is listed
wirelesse.g. intel pro,atheros, broadcom, etc.

to turn it on is usually a slide switch in front next to external head phones and bluetooth.
